American Cars Are Shit!!!

That's a truck, not a car. Also, an 18-year-old vehicle is not modern.
I thought we were talking about vehicles in general. It amazes me that the thing still runs, and I thought that you, being a mechanic, would appreciate that fact.

I agree with you on the modern Mustangs, though. My stepsister bought one, and took me for a ride one day in it. I was like "is this it?" 😕

I was talking cars. It really doesn't amaze me because trucks are made to take a beating.

Yep, that's it. Pretty sad, huh?

Are you sure that wasn't what she said?

It really is. A buddy used to have a GT Mustang (late 80's model I believe) and MAN that thing was mean.

Is your mind always in the gutter? 😖hifty:

To go from Roadsters, T-Birds and Mustangs to things like Escorts, Tauruses, and Focuses is pathetic. Ford sucks.

What I find to be the biggect kick in the nuts, they only sell their better cars overseas. Eg We get the Taurus, others gets the Falcon.

I have driven a Ford Focus before, and, to be honest, it was quite a nice ride.

By nice, you mean quiet and smooth? Its supposed to be. Its a mom car.

Well, they're selling to what the majority want.

That, and the way it handled. I would never buy one, because I gotta have some damn horsepower.

Hell no! It looks like cross between a Nissan Z and a Mazda RX-8. And that's exactly what I'm talking about, when I say American Muscle has become emasculated, and don't even look American anymore. I can totally burn that piece of crap on a quarter-mile in a '67 Stingray. No jokes.

Sorry but unless the stingray's heavily modified or if it has a ZL1 (which still probably wouldn't matter), it's not touching the ZR1. Not in the 1/4 and definitely not in the twisties.

Update: GM finally posted the video of the lap run.

Some say his left nipple is shaped like the nurburgring 🙂

I'll stick with Toyota. Tis' the only car I can think of that lasts over 300k miles. American cars are generally cheaper, as imported European and Asian cars are more expensive...but, you get what you pay for. Sputtin' round in a Ford and your engine will crap out in 2 or 3 years and youll be at the shop for every other stupid thing..a/c goes out, engine problems..w/e

so isn't it jut cheaper to spend a little more on an imported car that's made with advanced technology and superior quality than buying an in-expensive american car thats always crapping out?

meh......why bother caring? Just about every automobile off an assembly line comes with a standard 5 year warranty. What's the percentage of people who actually keep cars 5 years?

I average about 3 years per car. My last 3 cars were '01, '04 and last year I traded for '07. My truck on the other hand I do plan to keep just for hauling.....it's an '04 and I'll probably keep it until it dies.

Why don't you tinker with them to prolong their life? Buying one every 3 years is a lot of money.

Not in turning, because classic muscle wasn't intended for circuit racing. But drags were their specialty. What were muscle cars 30 and 25 years ago, today are just tuners and mom cars.

I am hoping this is my next car.

I don't recall the any of the muscle cars of yore being able to do an 11.3 1/4 mile run out of the factory. But then again, the corvette has really been more of a sports car anywho.
