manga is allowed in? groan . . . 🙁
and before anyone asks why do i not like that idea--it's not because i have anything against manga directly, but rather because manga is too hard to research for those of us who do not know it. i would kindly request that manga-familar judges are used (if there even are any) during matches where manga characters are used. it's like in the old KMC tournaments where scans and support were rarely used (which is why people like longpig could thrive 😛 )--people can BS pretty much anything and no one would be the wiser.

People BS with mainstream characters brotha.
yes, i know . . . 😖hifty:
but . . . like i said--it's harder with comic characters because it is easier to get evidence to bust some BS. also because most people on the forum are simply more familar with them and can RECOGNIZE the BS more easily.
if a combatant and judge really have no idea about a manga character, it's hard to make a fair assessment about what is and isn't BS.

Funny, that's the time when Scoob made his name too.

....and when I made it to the semis in a HH tourney with Apollo on my team.

I find manga easier to follow the comics because…you know its written by a single author under a single series.
That and much of it can be found on sites such as these.

Fact remains that this forum isn't naturally acclimated to manga knowledge. It's not what we do, so those aren't the fans we attract. As I see it, though, it's always been a two-way street. People who use manga characters can potentially "get away" with more, but also run the risk of losing battles because of the general lack of knowledge. Everyone thinks they can bridge that gap with scans and descriptions, but don't always succeed, and manga characters bite people in the ass as often as help.
So I'm usually against it in an official-vote setting, because the majority of participants/judges won't know anything about manga, so I see it as out of place. But I don't personally have a problem with it.
