*editActually, it would be funny if when Trickster competes next season in the low herald league he stomps all of you in combat out of spite.
meh, trick has had loads of chances in these things. it'd be funny to see trick actually take one of these seriously for once and actually debate his heart out at some point. i've little doubt he could do pretty well for himself because he DOES have some knowledge, but . . . it hasn't been shown to be forthcoming. 😬 i'd welcome it though.

He's got comic knowledge and even some debating chops. It wouldn't be impossible, and that's not my problem with him judging. My issue has always been with his attitude toward tournaments. The tourney-wrecking mutiny is the most well-known, but he's on record as saying he doesn't take them seriously at all, as either participant or judge, and actually went out of his way to try to skirt the rules in Evangel's tourney, then b*tched, insulted, and dropped out when the tactic was banned, and said it was only because we hadn't thought of something as powerful that we were upset (when we actually had just read the rules). These aren't the only incidents, just the most prevalent.
So like I said, it's not personal. I'm just looking out for the integrity of the tourney, and told Trick point blank that I'd do this. Glad to see there's some support.

Interesting premise, which illadelph partially co-opted for this tourney (it was point-based, but extended from low street to nigh-abstract), but was bound by Evangel's inability to see what we could still do within her rule framework. She also went by the old "anyone can vote in thread" rules that we ditched years ago.
I had a rule changed on me mid-tourney, well after specifically asking her about it via PM and having her ok it, and also after she allowed it in earlier matches, and it boned nearly my entire team. Fights ensued, and she denied ok'ing the strategy until I posted the PM. At that point, it basically stayed banned because I wasn't using the powers/rules that we had like she expected me to. It was beyond idiotic. Goober deserved his win, but it was lackluster due to multiple dropouts and tourney bans, either from Evangel being way too strict with things or those same people becoming disenchanted with her method of running it. At least 3 that I remember (ironically, myself included) had been banned by tourney's end, and that doesn't count dropouts.
So like leo said, a mess.

Plus, last tournament when he signed up, then deliberately avoided showing up to the first match, and all subsequent matches, which ended up ruining the whole schedule and destroying Paul and Bran's chances of success.
*throws extra log on the fire*
My point exactly.

Ok, one thing Digi's post reminded me of:If your ideas/tactics are so borderline that you need to ask a Judge about it beforehand, maybe you should bring it up before your match rather than getting into it only to have your plan banned by vote due to differing interpretations of the rules.
Right. I actually have a line to this affect in my guide for tourney directors. And it's excellent advice. You only have yourself to blame if a plan gets axed mid-match, because you didn't check beforehand.
In my case with Evangel, I did check beforehand, which was the reason for the frustration.
