dur to me. My apologies. 8 to 1. Maybe 2, depending on whether or not Bada's words were a vote.

No more unfounded potshots? That's at least a step in the right direction. But 8 people's concerns are very real.

Copying is already officially banned. The other two are up for vote, and yes, they should hopefully continue to progress. Anyone's opinions are welcome.

it's 8 to 3 (newjak, blair, bada)

I'm against full blown precog and probability manipulation. First, I really don't feel like researching claims for those abilities and second, it seems a bit like "cheating" imo. Something like Spidersense or added "luck" would be okay with me. But there needs to be caps.

I know why Red, Smurph and Ha-son voted against Trick but not everyone else. Unless there are concerns about his knowledge or integrity, I say we let him judge. If something comes up during the tourny, we can always have someone come in to take his place.

I already stated why I voted against him, didn't I?

Trick has always had a tendency to try to be integral to the tourney as long as it suits him.

Evangel's, he entered, intending to pwn, and partway through decided to throw the whole thing.

Red's tourney speaks for itself. Ruined two participants chances of success.

Delph's first tourney, sure he was a decent judge... but only after he couldn't be bothered to actually put together a write up, and, after a week, lost.

There was the tourney where he led a mutiny because he wanted things run differently, which led to a crash of the whole tourney.

Red/NJ's last tourney, he went out of his way to inform a competitor of mine on every method he conceived would beat my team. Not that I harbor grudges (it had no bearing on me being the runner up of the tourney), but I think that Trick's shown a consistent lack of respect for his commitments and tourneys in general.

I don't want to kick him out because he didn't show up as a participant. I want to kick him out because he ruined any chance of success for two different people, and didn't give two shits about it.

I want to vote him out because he repeatedly acts as if a tourney is not affecting multiple people, but just him, and thus should wait until he feels like actually doing whatever he signed up for.

It's not about how he acts as a participant, but how he acts as someone whose actions affect the entire tourney.

We all know that a lack of judges crashed Delph's last tourney, and I know Trick's showed personal grudges against participants in this tourney in the past, and I know he's tried to ruin tourney matches over his grudges in the past. First hand.

Please don't categorize me with a group that you obviously think intends to boot Trick for shits and giggles.

Blair voted to ban him, Blair just said that Newjak voted against.

Blair voted for his ban. So no, it's 8-2.

To clarify, the issue isn't that Trick doesn't know comics. The reason is that he has done nothing but sh*t on tournaments, and those involved with them, that he has participated in and run. The number is at least at 3 tourneys, and I'm surely missing some. The individual incidents number well more than that, of course. Enough so that 8 people feel the need to ban him from this tournament in any capacity.

Despite being able to point to his 1-2 matches as a judge (which, let's be clear, is his lone tourney experience that doesn't speak against him), he's on record as saying that he takes nothing about tournaments seriously. They are intended to be fun, but not at the expense of the competition and those within it.

So basically, he doesn't deserve to be a part of this at all. His flippant insults and dodges to these issues so far only reinforce the point that he is not genuinely aware of his transgressions, but remains immature to the point of denial of his past problems. And if he is changed, he has given us no reason to believe as such.

So it's not about competence, it's about privilege. Just as the forums are a privilege that banned members have given up due to their actions, so are tourneys privileges for those who are not detriments to them.

...

Also, what Smurph said. Everyone read that.

You grouped yourself with them, I stated I knew why the three of you voted against Trick. I was present in the chats when everything was discussed. So please don't assume I thought the worst of you or anyone.

I said "unless there were concerns about his...." and was clear in my statement. I didn't go back and read several pages to see the why's and what's and wasn't sure where the nay votes were derived. I also acknowledged Trick's past antics as a tourny participant. Rehashing things I know already doesn't really help.

I see you both have some bad feelings about Trick. A PM may have been better to explain everything instead of stoking the flames. Trick has already asked to move on from this. If everyone has real concerns about his voting then I suggest we take it off the thread and come to a decision. I don't want this thread to turn into a long, bash, flame filled argument.

Fair enough. I tend to automatically think if I'm mentioned in the same sentence as Red, it can't be good. 😛

I can't totally speak for Digi, but I think we both intended on adding to the public discussion as well as responding to you... hence Digi's "everybody read that". We still have people that need to vote, so we might as well make sure that our responses are heard.

Hmm, now I may actually start grouping people with Red just for fun. biscuits

Responses heard....mmm I can see this ending badly. I have no problem if people can be gentle but candid. I don't want any glorified bashing. I'll just PM the others who voted against then.

Ban them all.

Thanks to delays due to Hurricane Fay, and my own priorities, Blair and I can't make the draft day.

I won't make it regardless, but could we push it back a bit? If people are already scheduled, I understand, but we've had to throw a team together in less than a week, so it's nerve racking enough without coming up with directions for a proxy.

And Blair would have been there, but for the hurricane...

Hurricane is a pretty crappy excuse. Should have said you needed to wash your hair.

Worst case, you draft last for the first round then first in the second round ... if any of your chosen team are gone you can briefly re-plan then get any 4 characters you want.

😬

I was under the impression that drafts were all on the same day.

I think there's a few day between them ... that's how it normally works ... no?

That's what I originally thought, but I'm pretty sure Delph told me it would all be decided on Saturday.

In any case, even bumping it back just one day would make all the difference.

If it's not all on Saturday, however, that's a different scenario.

I suppose I can flex my executive powers a bit.

Afterall, I am The Decider...

Here we go:

-Power Copying was already banned per majority vote.
-Luck powers/probability altering is outright banned per dictator decree.
-True Precognition/Clairvoyance is also banned per dictator decree. Spidersense-esque abilities/battle awareness powers will be allowed.

As for pushing back the drafts, since I'm trying to be accomodating to everyone's schedules (even B-Dub's), could all of you propose ideal times for the drafts to take place. I'm actually taking all of next week off (returning to the office 9/3), so I'm capable of shifting my schedule with no qualms. I also know some members have expressed timezone issues (Charlotte mentioned that she is around 11 hours ahead of me here in Cali). Let's work something out that everyone can be comfortable with.

Most times work for me. Just make sure you tell us in advance. I already cleared some stuff out to be around Saturday, since we don't know what time the drafts will go up.

...

Bada, Trick's ban is a public vote that concerns the tournament. It would do no good to take things to PMs, but would rather just allow it, and 8 peoples' votes, to die out.

My post wasn't bashing, neither was Smurph's. We stated the reasons for wanting him banned. It's not an insult if its nothing more than a recounting of something that happened. I've also clarified that I wouldn't be going out of my way if this was merely a grudge with Trick. My concern is for the tournament...I wouldn't waste the breath if my intent was merely to spite or harass him. Shouldn't we all be concerned when he has a history of screwing participants over in one form or another...a few uneventful matches as a judge doesn't absolve his body of work, which I'm shocked doesn't upset more people.

I wanted people to read Smurph's post (and still do) because he does an excellent job summarizing the many reason Trick shouldn't be involved in this tournament, for those who are unfamiliar with past tourneys.

Pat Tourney was my uncle ... he died in an Internet flame war.

10 hours, actually. But I'll manage it tomorrow quite well- in fact, tommorow is the most comfortable day for me, since I'll be able to get online in requested time- 10 AM Saturday 23. Like Digi, I've dealt with some real life issues to have a free Saturday night for drafts.
So I don't like it to be delayed any later (next week I have a presentation of my summer translating project at the university, so won't be on KMC much, and Saturday, 23 is really fine).
