Delph's League of Champions Season One Discussion Thread

Well, I've learned from my past debacle that you can never have too many competent judges. Besides, if this thing runs as smoothly and successfully as I anticipate it should attract more competitors next year.

Not to mention it's actually on KMC.

I'd actually prefer we went to Delph's forum, but that's just me.

Why?

KMC is much better imo. No one besides participants and judges ever went to delph's forum, so it killed general interest in the tourney. And I don't think we realize how beneficial "buzz" is to keeping a tourney's momentum going until we no longer have it.

I've always seen tournaments as a culmination of the level of comic knowledge, debating prowess, and dedication/ingenuity we have here on KMC. So as much as it was commendable for ill to try something new with his forum, I couldn't help but feel like the tourney was a bit hollow there.

Why?

Less spam in combat threads.

100% impossible that any participant would be banned from the site during the competition and forced to forfeit.

Better color scheme. 😛

PM me if there's any problems in the battle threads. (If the tourny is held here)

I'll edit posts and warn if necessary. biscuits

Spam can be seen as interest, provided it is discussion, not random posting. Threads were barren over there.

If a participant is banned (it has happened) they deserved it. We don't ban on a whim. Tourney issues or not, they lose their right to compete.

And KMC has multiple color schemes to choose from.

Thanks Bada. We Cops have to stick together.

Even ex-Cops. 😎

I'm holding the first season of the tourney here. Future seasons will be played by ear.

Interest wasn't an issue. Lack of dependable judges was.

Having combat away from KMC alleviates that becoming an issue regardless.

As for the color scheme, once you go black... 😎

Anyway, I'm off to finish watching Magnum Force.

If Bada&Raoul agree to junk the no-manga/anime rule, we could have season 2 here. durfist

thats going to open the flood gates though.

I am eagerly awaiting the day, a tourney will allow manga/anime.

My last tourney did, actually.

Season 2 of this league will as well (mixed genre). It's not a mandate that you use them, simply an option. Variety is the spice of life.

same here but it will eventually turn to shit if it isn't extremely selective.

think about it, drafting light yagami at low street + any telepath = unbeatable - low cost character.

Its suppose to be a mid herald tier right? Thier is a massive combo I want to pull off. I already know, who to pick.

no OHK. And 2nd, a character with a healing factor might be able to survive it.

Screw that. Talk about your manga-dorks when the time comes for them. For now, we're using good old-fashioned heterosexual comic characters.

...except Midnighter. And possibly Power Pax.

So has Iron Man. Hell, Quasar once stalemated Galactus for a while. Is he abstract? Miss Martian isn't even at the top of the class in High Meta. Sinister is a world-class telepath, but brings less to the table offensively than, well, anyone else on my team. And plenty of other on others' teams as well.

Joker's borderline. It was discussed and determined to be ok.

Beyond all this, I'm not sure how citing other characters justifies your own. Each is determined on an individual basis. You'd be better off trying to make your case for him being 25 than complaining about scrutiny.

Also, Charlotte overrates Rose Tattoo like mad. Ignore that example of hers.

I don't overrate her. She DID kill composite Bendix (was killed herself in the process). I said that her powerset allows her to kill anyone if given a chance, not that her overall stats>normal high street. That example was just to prove that the ability to hurt someone doesn't makes a person on nesessary level- we look at feats in general.
In fact, you can find a "perfect killer" (this time really overrated one) a tier lower- Wesley Gibson from "Wanted". Some people put him on Rose Tattoo level in terms of being "ultimate killer". And he's not worthy anything more than 10 points.
