That was Curtis Manning, as he found the Dobson device and initiated the shutdown sequence. We've gone over this before. Stiles stopped 98. Manning stopped 5. 1 melted down. Jack 0.
Bauer stopped a major war, a genocide, and an international pandemic practically by himself, which would have cost just as many lives.
But you know what? I'll concede there. I think the complete and total economic wipeout of the US is probably worse than any of the 24 plots
That being stated, I consider Bauer better because he takes on more complex situations and gets less help than McClane, who gets people like Farrell or Jack McClane, who tell him every single thing he needs to know.
I think your argument that McClane doesn't need Bauer's resources to do what Bauer does is flawed in many ways, especially considering that, like Day 2, Bauer's resources are the only existing leads to find the MacGuffin of the season. There's no way Mcclane would be able to track them down or extract the information without Bauer's resources and interrogation skills (which McClane has never displayed).
Who existed in the first place due to whom exactly......?
Clue: Its not Bauer, Tony or CTU.
He saves his son quite a few times in the movie too...of course you would know this had you actually seen it.
Still...don't beat yourself up over it. People have been very wrong on the internets before and still gone on to lead productive and good lives. So don't abandon hope yet..theres still a chance to turn it all around for you.
So, like Van Zan, you're ignoring the circumstances of his death and his capture.
Then I guess Simon takes all the credit for 'saving the world' or whatever you credit McClane for, by your own logic, since he allowed McClane to live rather than shoot him and Zeus on the spot. Same exact thing goes for Gabriel, who is truly the savior of the world since he chose to molest McClane rather than kill him. Same for Lihn, matter of fact, who turned away from McClane out of PIS even though she could have ended him. They had no reason to keep him alive, but did anyways, so they are the real heroes here. McClane's role models, by your logic 🙂
In that case, Karl takes credit for all of McClane's actions, since he let McClane live when he got the drop on him when he was talking to Al, rather than shoot him and be done with it. Karl's "nobody kills him but me" really is the reason McClane had the stealth advantage that he did. So Karl is the savior of the DHverse by your logic.

Actually they show the opposite.Karl even shot McClane and McClane still kicked his ass all up and down Nakatomi, amusing quips all the way....then he hung him and rushed back to save the day and hostages.
Uh, yes, this is actually what happened. Not sure what Lestov is talking about.
McClane beat Karl fair and square* despite being disadvantaged and injured.
*That's probably a mislabel. Meaning, McClane didn't cheat.
Originally posted by Sadako of GirthHe didn't spare Karl, pretty sure he assumed Karl was dead. Dude was hanging still from a chain. He hung there for a while, didn't he? I remember him being there as the hostages ran by.
Nope. Its not nope its 'yes' actually.McClane spared Karl's in his haste to get back to saving the day.
Screenfeats show this.

True (even though Karl was not a master H2H combatant by any means judging by his brutish fighting style, and Jack would probably neck-snap him). But I'm talking about when McClane was talking with Al, and Karl snuck up behind him, and put the gun to McClane's head, but didn't fire. He could have easily ended McClane right there with no resistance but didn't.
