Sometimes simply spanking the shit out of the enemy is the best strategy. We all saw how effective Surfer's beatdown was. If Darkseid had half the IQ of Thanos he'd do the same to Superman a long time ago.

With nothing more than the basis of the technology available to New Gods, any one of them would, but the same logic, be more intelligent than Thanos (or Reed Richards, or any other comic book genius). Is that what's being argued?

as for dismissing thanos tech capabilities,thanos created the tech from scratch that held galactus prisoner also turning him into a weapon whilst draining his energy/power cosmic.

as well for knowledge he knew the inbetweeners OWN powers would not work in the nexus of reallity and that only the IB's masters (order and chaos) had allowed his power to work in his prison,some thing the IB didnt even know about his own power.

Let's not forget that DS knew who was killing the new gods and that thier time was up. if not for DS, there would be a fifth world of totally new beings. DS basically took the new beings power and made sure that the 4th world Gods got it.
