darkseid is more intelligent than thanos infact his intellect make him a threat to the DC multiverse that why he feared. He came up with a plan to make the greek gods less powerful by spreading tale of greek gods to the roman so that the people of rome could belive in the greek gods therefore creating by avatars of themselve to be worshipped by the roman.

If you're referring to Starlin, then you should know that he didn't even write that retcon. It was Dan Slott...the same guy who wrote that Squirrel Girl story.
