Intelligence & cunning competition between Thanos and Darkseid

The IG is a perfect example of a guy having it so easy he doesn't need to use much of his grey matter.

Just go from planet to planet beating up on some people that call themselves elders but who somehow don't know the power they wield or its nature, like the In betweener or the gardener or that dumb brute Champion.

By the time he faces Runner and Grand master he has so much power a child would find it impossible to lose.

Al, you're downplaying the story big time.

Thanos calculated who's Gem to get first,
in order to defeat the next Gem wielder he would face.

The only ox was Champion,
the others got owned with intelligence & cunning.

Not my fault that the authors don't give us any real intelligence and cunning feats for this guy.

Jim Starlin is one of, if not the most respected Cosmic related story writer ever in Marvel.

So, I'm gonna have to disagree with your discrediting tone.

New FC came out and it's revealed DS is on his way to spreading the anti-life across the universe, and by Flash's words "Darkseid's falling, dragging this whole universe down as he goes. The entire structure. The whole multi-verse, Wally!"..."Like I said--entire Multiverse avalanching into oblivion"

and most interesting:
Black Adam: "The primal ones who lend us their powers have been overthrown by these New Gods of Apokolips. We're at our weakest"

So DS plan is far more then just taking over the Earth, just a little tidbit

We will see how things play out. Lets see if he can conquer earth.

Fact is both In Beetwener and Champion were potrayed as oxes in different ways. In Betweener who despite having lived for lifetimes doesn't understand the nature of his own powers? He got beaten in very cheap fashion.

So by the time he is facing the Gardener and the rest he already has a one up on all of the elders. Furthermore Gardener had the time gem he seemed (outside of the grand master himself) to be rather intelligent (he was even clearly modelled after Highfather in his demeanor and appearance) but he didn't even know the nature of the time gem, very un-Highfather like.

The whole series of events just appeared cheap. Where's the challenge? Are we to believe gaining ultimate power is so easy? Look into a magical well; go after a couple of elders (who are clueless about the gems) and presto, ultimate power?

Starlin may be recognized as a good space opera writer by some but the IG saga better not be his best work in the genre because it really just sparks of cheapness.

You sure it wasnt 4.

#3 he did (kinda), both Flashs traveled into the future (think 2 weeks ahead) and they see Darkseid has took over the planet

#4 deals with Darkseid taking it over in real-time.

Spoiler:
He finally makes his apperance (using a human host) at the end of the issue, even causes the sky to rain blood with his arrival

I'm sure since it was in 3 when the ALE was launched globally, taking over the free will of virtually every sentient being on the planet in a moment. Oracle and Mr Terrific couldn't do anything to stop the transmission.

That happened at the end I thought or it was going to happen. If he took over earth we dont find that out till 4 which I havent read yet.

Yeah, end of 3-start of 4.

Spoiler:
Also the Final Crisis: Submit one-shot deals with Darkseid taking over the planet as well. In #4 it focuses on the last remaining heroes and villian (Tattoo-Man) trying to rally together

Yeah,my point is we see him actually do it in 4. He starts it at the end of three. He accomplishes it due to the ale.
