Dini's writing the story. More important is that Dini said they were shooting for a classic feel. And of course, Conroy has done more work as Batman than every other Batman actor combined.

Perhaps, though people don't give Rino Romano as much credit as they should IMO. He did pretty well too.

I've been looking at IGN and YouTube videos to try and get a strategy for gathering the challenge trophies in Predator mode. It's really a pain in the ass, but it's also just so much fun.

for the people who didn't like the joker fight, what would you have preferred?

also, i would have liked some of those interactive sequences that were in games like MUA, TFU and RE4...

To be honest, IDK. All I know is that I had more trouble fighting Ivy than the Joker. Joker fight was a letdown.

i think it was, as someone said, the problems inherent in having joker as a boss. when they fight in the comics, joker rarely stands up to batman one on one, so that leaves them somewhat stuck.

and yeah, the ivy fight was probably the hardest in the game...

I would've preferred that he actually took you seriously. During the so-called 'boss battle' with him, he seemed to have a very short attention span, to where if he didn't beat you severely after a few seconds, he would let his same old henchmen take a crack at you instead while he addresses some crowd in the background. 😐 Wasn't even a fight.

It was more about getting gameplay in and not being true to his character, Joker as a character would never do what he does, because power means nothing to him.

And I heard suggestions that the "boss fight" should have been either an ultimate stealth room where if you got spotted once, the Joker would kill Gordon or something, and another idea was just go up and punch him. (Anticlimactic but stays true to the character.)

I think most people had a problem with the final boss not for how lame it is, but how totally against character it is for the Joker.

Yeah, pretty much.

Who gives a shit? The game was ****ing awesome.

.

that would be awesome, aslong as its a really devastating punch

Most people since it ruins the experience, a game should be amazing from beginning to end, and while AA is amazing for 99% of the game, the ending just lets the game/story down badly.

I'd rather have had the ultimate stealth room or anticlimactic punch in the face and stay in the experience until the very end rather then have it broken up just because the developers wanted a "final boss."

The game may well be ****ing awesome but the ending puts a dent in it's armor by throwing the Joker out of character.

Contrast that to Half Life 2 that manages to have an epic conclusion and still manages to keep Dr. Breen in character to the very end and therefore keeping the narrative flowing, making the player feel rewarded when he or she finishes the entire game satisfied seeing Breen get what he deserves in a way that's fitting to both the story and his character.

If you want to use Half Life as an example, Episode 2 ending was fantastic.

One of the few times where I was running around, going nuts just trying to stop the Striders. Fantastic ending.

ah. yeah, i couldn't agree more. i wouldn't have minded walking up to the guy at the end of a difficult room and just knocking him clean out (maybe he could be like a thug and try to fight, only to be countered and messed up).

I think the Joker would've been a fun end boss if it would've been like two parts. First part, chase through a somewhat crafty maze that you can only progress by solving puzzles or figuring out a room's secret. The final part would've been cool to have either a room full of bad guys in which Joker is pretending to also be one to escape ala TDK, then they both encounter eachother and have just a one-hit knockout for him. Either that, or when Joker pumped himself full of Titan, I really wanted Batman to turn all Hulk-like and have a massive brute fight.

Also, the Batwing. I would've loved a Joker chase in the Batwing with him in a red baron biplane.

you tease.

A goat can dream, chee!

Why would you want a final boss that would be KOed in a punch?

Well, maybe a few more, heh. Joker doesn't seem like a fighter. He'd go down fast, but the build up, that's where the magic would be. Ya know?

You'd be surprised by some of Joker's fighting feats.

Well as I said...

Because it stays true to the Jokers character, instead of just adding gameplay for the sake of gameplay be feeling the need to have a "final boss" they could have created a scenario that not only keeps the Joker in character, but also does not break you out of that immersion or the story of the game, the Joker would never do what he does because that's not what he's like, he's not the sort of guy to go out and get a large dose of ultimate power that's just not how he works.

So to make that happen because there's a need for a final boss really breaks the overall story and really throws the player out of the experience.
