Laresh is unfortunately secure. Other than being massively inside their lines, with no aerial insertion possible, reports from those who escaped say that the Union are evicting the populcae and totally mechanising it. Snesors are picking up any and all life signs; anything living is being thrown out or destroyed.
Meanwhile.
Indeed, they are aware of this,. In fact, the Selenian agent in Republican space has provided them with a detailed breakdown of Federation vessels and their military tactics.
(They gloss over the information they've acquired on Republican security)
Unfortunately, they can think of no way to destroy that ship. The intelligence gathered dfuring the fighting so far has only made the task seem more impossible.
"Despite their descent within the shield, they have been playing a rather conservative game, to quote the Marshall," Xeth says. "They are holding back the majority of their vulture droids to protect the larger vessels, despite the fact that the modified Lucrehulk-class freighters that the Federation uses are nigh impenetrable. They are likely still worried about what happened at Naboo happening here."
"Our information [which you can confirm, Xeth] is that all those ships have been outfitted with a series of bulkheads that will prevent a stray torpedo from cayusing what happened at Nabbo again," says Minas. "Which makes the ships even more ungainly and fuel inefficient, but the Feds are willing to pay. The taxes only go to themselves anyway."
"With the vessels in high orbit and with none of the rest of the forces on this world capable of fielding starfightersm a strike is impractical through that fighter screen," says the Air Marshall. "But what happened when they descended through the shield?"
"Our ground weaponry proved elss effective than we hoped," says Minas. "Their shi is thick enough to resist it. We estimate they couldnl't hold against it forever, but they'd have plenty of warning to pull out before their shields failed."
"Which means they will not come beneath the shield bty default, but they'll descend when they want to give oribtal support," says Shan.
"None of this really gets us anywhere," says the Battlemaster. "If our only hope is to win battle after battle, then that is what we must do. This is no time to be complai8nging about our lack of a star force."
"Indeed," says the Kaldak leader. "You Elerians agreed to our common defence policy; we agreed the defensive mechanism made a starforce unnecessary. And YOU Elerians are the ones that promised that that shield would make any fleet useless."
"Well this new droid they are deploying has changed the rules somewhat," says the Air Marshall, who is a small man, and withdraws somewhat.
Wentar steps forward. "This is no time to point fingers and blame anyone for what they should or should not have done. No one could have seen the BV-50 coming, not without seeing it first hand. We need to focus on what we can do, not what we could have done."
I am not going to let these rivalries between nations fracture the only hope here. Wentar thinks to himself.
Vera-Kin regards what the other leaders have said and how the Air Marshall responds, looking at him with a new interest.
"This is not a time to be pointing fingers," Vera-Kin says. "The Droid Army that the Federation has deployed is something unlike any other foe that Alura has seen before. I believe Marshall Shan mentioned that these fighting forces and the orbital shield were raised against things like pirate raids, not fully-equipped invasion forces. The lack of a formidable starforce is simply something you never needed before, and you will have to make due with what you have now."
Vera-Kin will Scan the Air Marshall, but is not spending the point for it.
Like everyone else, he is fearful, which is understandable. He's also annoyed by the hostility of the others.
"Can we get this conversation abck onto useful topics?" says Shan. "We've already seen that the orbital advantage of the Federation is absolute. This brings us another security worry, because it means the Federation has a very obvious target."
