USH'S STAR WARS GAME- CAMPAIGN II EPISODE IV (RENEGADES)- Battlefield

Reports are coming in:

- A recent power failure caused a transport system breakdown in a province near the landing area; the system remained down for maintenance at the point the evacuation was called. Due to the system failure, many tens of thousands of people remain trapped inside the evacuation area as air transports struggle with the volume of people thast need getting out of there. Three towns are involved; Federation droids are moving in.

- Only one defence battery remains that is able to get any form of decent shots on the incoming landing craft. Selenian air power is concentrating its efforts on protecting it but heavy Federation ground forces are moving in. The guns must be kept firing as long as possible!

- The Marshall has drawn a 'red ring' around the invasion zone. Within the ring are the areas expected to soon be loast, including the two above crisis points. The ring is not a perfect circle but is a linked series of waypoints of defence installations (heavy artillery pieces, ground-to-ground missile ranges, and of course the anti-space defences) that must be held in order to contain the invasion. Selenian troops have been given priority in defending the approachs to these installations.

A unit of Federation infantry- suspected to consist mainly of higher quality battle droids- has broken through the ring into the Arjok Forest where their movements cannot be tracked by air. The forest borders one of these defence installations and it is suspected they plan an atatck from it. However, if the Marshall pulls back too many men to defend the forest approach he will leave other areas in the ring vulnerable, likewise if he sends men into the forest to hunt the droids down. As there cannot be that many droids and they likely lack heavy equipment this is more an irritating worry than a major crisis, but sitll one he wants got rid of.

Xeth tells the Marshall that he can send his Jedi comrades to assist with each of these crucial situations.

In the situation of the evacuation being stalled by transportation breakdowns, Xeth asks if there are already soldiers in the area that the Jedi can assist.

Xeth asks the same of the defense of defense battery, and if it is feasible for his Jedi companions to make use of starfighters to attack ground forces without receiving too many assailment from vulture droids, in which he would be able to help.

As for the unit of battle droids heading into Arjok Forest... Xeth asks if they can be given a small contingency of men to assist them, but tells the Marshall that the Jedi may be able to handle this themselves. How many droids are in the unit?

if we split up, I wish to try and help out the evacs in the first report

We will have to split up if we hope to help any of these situations.

Vera-Kin also wishes to help with the evacs. Everyone else should split up between the other two reports, maybe.

How should the split go and who leads the groups?

There are forces present in all three areas trying to help; you do not have to go to all three. You will score more xp for the more situations you sort out. They are all, of course, time sensitive.

Incidentally, you also have the chance to take the initiative if you can think of specific things to do; if you have no particular plans then, as just happened, time will pass and events will occur.

All three areas are practical for starfighter use- that is to say, you won't instantly be blown out of the air by vast numbers; how useful you might actually be is a different matter.

The unit cannot be very big, as stated before, and hence it is not a major worry, but precise numbers are not known.

Vlad could assist with any of these, but since Vera and Jovan are already on the first report, he will most likely assist in the second or third.

Ush, I am assuming that the time that passes for one will pass for all three? Xeth wants to try tackling all three at once with his Jedi team.

Xeth wants to be able to help protect the evacuating civilians, because the droids will either kill them or take them into camps as they did at Naboo.

He also wants to keep that defense battery operating as long as possible; the more ships it brings down or damages, the less droids we will have to deal with in the long run.

Lastly, letting that unit go unhindered sounds like a bad idea in general. They probably have somewhere they are going and they may eventually cause significant problems even if they are not one now. Put the fire out before it gets worse, so to speak.

-

As for arrangements, I wouldn't mind volunteers and hearing where people think they should go. I considering our numbers, I will limit it to at most three Jedi per place, unless inactive players show back up or something.

Xeth wants to fly air cover in the second situation, by the way. It could be helpful having his craft raining shots down on the incoming heavier forces attacking the defense battery. He also wants a soldier to man the turret.

Evacuation Situation- Vera-Kin, Jovan

Defense of Defense Battery- Xeth (air)

Arjok Forest Unit-

Unassigned- Kiu, Vlad, Denzral, Sean, Wentar

I'll take the Forest.

And I appear back! Wentar's Deadshot and general flying skill would be most useful in Defense of Defense Battery I'd say.

I'll just wait to see what the other pick and then place Vlad in the most needed situation.

Ok, I'll take a snapshot at the end of the day. Make sure you let me know if you are going on foot or in the air!

I'm rather busy today so I'm afraid I can't say or do much today...

anyway, is vera-kin a good starfighter pilot? Perhaps if so, she can do a few bombraids to slow the droids down so more people can get evaced?
Or another plan?

No, Vera-Kin is not a pilot. But maybe since Wentar's superior piloting and Deadshot would make him very effective against the heavy units at the air base, Xeth could put his starship to use in the evacuation situation instead?

Otherwise Jovan and Vera-Kin will have to delay the droid forces on foot alone.

Vlad will take the Defense battery then, on foot.

I'll go for the defense battery, in my opinion that's the most important.

If Wentar and Xeth agree with my advice and we use Xeth's limit of three, here's what we have. Seems pretty good to me! I also put Denzral at the forest because Kiu was alone there.

Evacuation Situation- Vera-Kin, Jovan, Xeth (air)

Defense of Defense Battery- Vlad, Sean, Wentar (air)

Arjok Forest Unit- Kiu, Denzral

Anyone disagree?

I like it. Teams look pretty solid, no way we can lose this one, eh?

Fair point, Vera. Xeth will fly air cover for the evacuation situation, while Wentar can divebomb the heavy units at the defense battery.

I think we are set, Ush.

Ok, set it is- though you may want to think about the most direct way to help with the evacuation..
