"Of course."

Galder casts a wary glance at Rianna when the Desert of Stones is mentioned.

"Get on with it, man," Galder says, irritated by the drawn out story.

By now, someone has probably noticed that that Bureau printout has the names of your ships on it.

"Well, because the big guys who moved in were those Neimodians of the Trade Federation, who weren't going to let a fortune like that get into amateur hands. So when they bought up the land, they also made a 'considerable' investment in securtiy, and I ain't talking a fence here, ladies and gentlement. They flooded the desert with combat droids with fairly simple orders- to kill anyone in there who wasn't with the Feds, in order to 'safeguard' their investment. Well, that ended the war pretty quickly.

"And now, don't you want to know," says Zorin with a flourish, "why the Feds didn't just suck out all the wealth for themselves, having gone to all that trouble?"

Rand is now highly concerned.

"Yes, go on, tell us," Rand says.

Is he stalling us?

"Yes, go ahead, and make it brief!"

Galder notices the sheet of paper and reads Conquering Paladin of Hoth across a line. Frowning, he reaches across the desk and picks it up, but says nothing as he is awaiting further explanation of the Desert.

"Well because all this ended four years ago, and just as the Feds were about to move in, apparently they got into trouble over some backwater planet they landed troops on, and the Senate said they had to give up on these droid armies of theirs. So the Feds just pulled up on out of here. Just one problem. No-one bothered to turn the army off."

"That's nice," Galder says. "What's this?"

He waves the paper around.

"Oh, those things?" says Zorin as you pick it up, Galder. "Yeah, we get stuff like that all the time. Apparently some bunch of people knocked off some planet somewhere and stole some stuff; these guys are after their ships. But I am sure a group of law abiding citizens like yourself don’t know much about that kind of thing, do you?”

Con, can't help but chuckle....which then turns into louder laughing. "That's great, man. Probably the funniest thing I heard all week, so, what do you say we do?"

"Well, we surely don`t want to make any trouble for you, Marshall. We would like to reach some common understanding, like reasonable men."

"That depends," Galder says. "What if these ships listed are ours? Not that you've seen them, of course, or heard of their pilots coming to your world..."

Ush, do we know that battle federation droids are controlled remotely and can be turned off like it happened on Naboo?

"Yours? What kind of people would possibly think that? Of course, you know these types, they'll probably come poking around here eventually, saying they think they came here. I could always tell them they must have made a mistake."

"If you are talking about the guys we think, they are quite persistent, must be said."

"Yeah but their tracking network ain't so precise as to tell them which particular planet the people they are after are on; they need to get their ships in the area to track that."

As indeed you guys know from the time they found you the first time you hid from them- they had to search the sector first.

"So they rely on local law enforcement to give them the heads up if something comes their way."

"I think we all see where this is going. What do you propose?"

Rianna says nothing, but the talk of the Desert makes her feel slightly uneasy.

And... I shall leave it there for now, first as you guys are getting pretty ahead, secondly to let off-time posters catch up, and third because my insomnia is making it hard to concentrate on stuff like this in the evenings...

"So then you can help us. Of course nothing comes for free does it." Xavier says not changing the expression on his face at all.
