USH'S STAR WARS GAME- CAMPAIGN II EPISODE IV (DARK SIDE)- Destiny

Very quietly in the background, the others take the droid apart.

You've been taking a look at the software. Zorin was right, these droids were never built for mass production. Thery are an experimental line from the Techno Union built for this specific contract for the Federation, made by the Union's Special Projects Division. Some person named Cirus Cannes wrote the tactical software for these models.

You get an idea of the network the droids are working on. It is extensive, and this is not the only sort of droid there is. Although the droids all have independant capacity, they do seem to take orders from the network- it is co-ordinated by a droid model which the software refers to as 'The General'.

And as you were looking for, the droid sensors have indeed been modified speciifcally to work in this place.

What's the point, Galder? I mean, what IS the point? Even if things go well here, what next? You go back to Epireus, another dump of a world covered with primitives, suitable only for hiding away llike a worm. What is The lady going to do for you? You already hate her. She's going to use you as her trained dog until she has no more use for you, and then dispose of you.

Is that it? Is that all your life has meant? Was this your destiny?

Galder does not want to end his life as a useless lapdog that never achieved anything. He wants that villainy that he achieved during his time with Kuylen, especially on Malastare and Zeiton. He does not want to go Chion's route, finding glory simply in his kill count; he is more capable of great things than the idiotic brute.

He wants to follow in Kuylen's footsteps and become a threat that will eventually topple the Republic.

He wants to maintain his Reputation.

Con contemplates telling Galder that it isn't really that bad, quite interesting even, but realizes that it isn't the right moment...nor is he sure anyone would actually agree even if it were the right moment, so he just silently nods at Rand and heads towards the other droid.

But how? What can you possibly do? How can you free youyrself from this Adelmo person?

Something suddenly becomes clear to you. No-one can live in this place. There's no way you are taking antyone alive out of here.

And if that is so, you're not even going to know what this has all been for.

You can sense Galder's anger going off the scale. I know that seems pretty obvious, Sense or no Sense, but it is... dangerously so.

Galder is entering the final statges of mental breakdown.

Galder is entering the final statges of mental breakdown.

Well, we need to talk to him then. Somehow get to him and put him back into a more sane state of mind. I assume this calming enraged animal doesn't work on him, on account of him only marginally being an animal?

Galder is is losing it, surely such a being can not be tolerated as an asset.

"His worth to this group is possibly far more important then we can understand at this time, but if you need a short term answer his abilities far outweigh any determent so far. As of now he is valuable to this group to have."

Xavier goes over the network connections.

This is interesting

"Very interesting indeed."

Galder refuses to die out here in a fashion so pointless! He will escape from here.

Well, your Fix-It rolls are good enough to the point where you can hook this thing into the speeder's scanners.

Con- he'll probably be stable again soon. Just not for long. These periods will come more often and for longer.

Galder begins ranting about how nobody could survive this Desert and that it is a hopeless waste of his time as he vivisects the rocks, somewhat away from the group as they have now began avoiding him.

Xavier hops down from the droid and heads over to the speeder. He pays no attention to Galder as he passes him cutting through the vicious rocks.

He begins to install the scanner into the Speeder.

Some fifteen minutes later you have a working map of the area and a good feel as to where th droids are, though the system is not perfect.

There's dozens of these giant wakers around, for a start, but they are the on,ly ones you can accurately sense.

The bad news is that they have moved in behind you. Still, one problem at a time.

Xavier- hmm. Something odd though. There's a very well hidden signal being transmitted somewhere. Hidden enough to the point where you don't think the droids have noticed it.

Any way either of us can work out a way to trace it/intercept it?

Yes, you think so. It's a powerful communications signal, doing exaclty what Galder was pondering earlier- speciaised equipment. You cannot tell where it is broadcasting to, though.

"There," Rand says. "That is where we need to go."

Okay then. I suppose we had better find out where it's coming from.

Also, Tanic would like to look into the possibility of imitating The General's broadcast signal.

Yes, you can try and reverse the incoming command signal to do that. Ma take a while though.

You are heading through the Desert to the end of a very twisty valley that curls in on itself in a spiral. You can tell that it is not on the standard droid patrol route.

What did you have in mind for imitating the General's broadcast, Tanic?

Has Galder calmed down some? If not, someone should tell him that we've located something...

A little. You feel ready to snap though.

Tanic, you're out of luck- you need specific equipment to broadcast what the General does.

I was just wondering if it was possible - we could either hijack some of those big droids as transports, or it would make for a really good defence. As is, no worries.

"Galder," Tanic calls from the speeder (presumable Tanic and Xavier are in it, working), "We've got a signal, something we don't think is the droids. Care to give us a hand in pinpointing its location?"
