"She wants... she wants... so much... power that you cannot believe... can send... whole worlds insane. Unstoppable! And too few know about her... can find anything... so few..."
Suddenly he sounds lucid again.
"But limits. Even with her, limits. Her powers- useless on robots! This place, too much of a risk for her to come in person. And she does not have enough followers to risk them here either. Even though she can find nearly anything, she couldn;t get to me. Not in time. Shouldn't have been in time. But it's gone wrong. I've been abandoned. And she's got YOU to do her work! How could you do it, Galder? How could you betray everything so?"
Got it, Con! Different signal transmitting. Ok, you are trying to record the details.
And now you are being bothered by a beeping noise, Galder.
In a deep pouch, an old, dusty forgotten homing receiver.
The signal you had nearly forgotten- nine beeps in three sets of three, the noise rising by a note for each set.
The simple display on top provides a 3-d indicator of the direction of the signal; the distance is listed as eight metres.
"Tell him I got it for him, Galder. Tell him that I held onto it... for him!" He drags his face right up to yours.
"She must not have it!"
He collapses, unconscious.
It is at this point that Rabnd, examining him fishes out his personal papers- or what is left of them after being shot- from Briande's jacket.
He is from Tasker's Crown.
Galder stares in awe at the dying man beneath him, then to the beacon transmitter that was used to summon him, then to the signal generator directly behind him, where Con is standing.
"Kuylen..." Galder says.
Very quickly, Galder fishes out the data crystal.
"How do I access this?" he asks himself, aloud.
Galder nods as Rand says this. A malicious smile creeps onto his face.
"Do you know what this means, Rand?" Galder asks. "We don't need you any more. For anything at all. Kuylen will guide us from beyond the grave. I have a feeling that, once I tap into this crystal, I will know everything I need to know!"
