USH'S STAR WARS GAME- CAMPAIGN II EPISODE IV (JEDI)- Purity

"The Jedi deny power because power corrupts," Gallagher says. "Politicians know that better than anyone and yet they still let it happen. The Jedi are protectors of the law, not its makers."

Gallagher looks to the small hotel. "Why have you brought me here?"

"To show you a lesson about Power.

"And as I say- it is that denial of theior power that weakens them. Andro cannot act without failing. Or at least... failing as a Jedi. It would be a mistake to see that as all-important."

He heads inside.

(Ok, I wouldn't ever have gotten it myself. Possibly because I don't entirely agree with the Jedi philosophy, and kinda sympathise with some of the points of the Dark Side. Not that I'm evil, I just beleive in a greyer area of 'good'. Anyhow to keep it moving, I'll crib off Tpt.)

"Their deceptions, the plotting?" Andro tries hopefully.

Gallagher walks inside behind the Abbot, wary of their purpose here.

"His life would be forfeit if he failed as a Jedi," Gallagher says.

"Well now, that's just nonsense. Have you not yourself worked with those who no longer call themselves Jedi? Are their lives forfeit? Are they evil? The rules the Jedi set themselves are the rules of the Republic, which are not necessarily the rules of the Light. We are here to see Mirani's room," says Sienar, waving his hand in front of the reception man.

"You're here to see Mirani's room, of course," says the man, handing over the keycard.

-

"Yes, Andro, lies. Deception is the way of the Dark Side. That was their weapon.

"Now, with some Sith, their deceptions were the direct ones- the feint, the ambush, the trap. Strategic deceptions, misdirections.

"But the truly dangerous Sith- they were thr true wars, the ones whose words could change the fate of the Galaxy, without a sabre being drawn. I am not saure you can truly appreicate how dangerous such a being is; you imagine their craft as being like magic. You must not. You must get to the bottom of it. Do you know the difference between a man who lies and a great liar?"

"A great liar actually beleives the lie? Or behaves as if he does."

"No, Andro. The trait of the true Master of Lies... is that he can trick you even though you know he is a liar. Anyomne can say that which is untrue. Only the gifted can deceive over and over.

"To believe all that Sienar says is folly; to disbelieve it all is likewise. Trying to pick out what is trur and what is false is his game and is where he will confuse you, but you must beat his game. Somehwere amongat what he has said, there is a lie. You must be very sure about that."

Gallagher glances at the receptionist, then back to the Abbot as they leave the reception desk to find Mirani's room.

"Doctor Mirani? You sent him away?" Gallagher says. "But outside of the Basilica he could have been found. That is awfully careless of you, Sienar."

"I told you," says Sienar. "They can prove things against Mirani. Hence the careless thing to do would have been to shelter him in the Basilica, wouldn't it?"

Gallagher only nods in acknowledgement of his error as he follows Sienar to Mirani's room, feeling uneasy and so retracting his offered arm.

"So. Power is useless unless you know what you are going to do with it.. And if you refuse it you must take the consequences. You must consider what you will do with your power, Gallagher," says Sienar, as you arrive at the room, which seems to have been sealed off as a crime scene. Sienar uses the key card to unlock the door anyway.

Gallagher tries to sense into the apartment, displeased at seeing signs of what appears to e a crime scene sealing off Mirani's room.

"What for?" Gallagher says. "Why should I consider it if I know that I follow the ways of the Jedi?"

Gallagher steps in behind Sienar, looking for Mirani.

"Because the Jedi won't save those people, Gallagher."

He takes you to the bathroom, where you see the suicide scene as the Jedi found it.

Gallagher goes cold, realizing what this means for his friends.

"Mirani... he's dead," Gallagher says. "But why?"

-

Okay, I was hoping I would get to the 'suicide' scene.

There was a part in my visions where a man put a gun to his own head at someone else's command (I am assuming the Lady but I can't be sure). Now that Gallagher has seen suicide scene, could he identify the man as Mirani? Or is it not him?

Unfortunately you felt that scene rather than seeing it; the Force is a bit vague like that sometimes.

Sienar smiles.

"Maybe I told him to," he says.

Gallagher glares at Sienar.

"But... why would he listen to you?" Gallagher asks. "What have you done, Sienar?"

"I'll leave you to think about it," says Sienar. "And to think more about the death of your sister as well. I have some Senators and businessmen to meet. I shall return to you at the Basilica... just before the reception."

Gallagher simply looks over the suicide scene, trying to see if his highly sensitive connection to the Force will reveal anything to him or if he can see anything out of order with a suicide scene.

Nope, you just have what you have...

Time is passing! Jedi, that Reception is starting soon; people are beginning to gather.
