As far as Star Forge is concerned, Drew Karpyshyn confirmed to me that only two companions followed him.
And they stopped at Bastilla. After that Revan handled the situation very well all by himself:
1. Defeated DS Bastilla who had support of Star Forge.
2. Defeated an army of Star Forge Battle Droids.
3. Defeated a well prepared Darth Malak.
So their should be no doubt in his abilities.

Second, Luke also lifted R2D2.
Third, Luke is probably much younger than Revan and is just getting started. Revan already had been trained for waaaaay longer than Luke and was just regaining his already well established connection.

Revan was just like that untrained Luke prior to his re-training in Dantooine.
