STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Decay

Started by Captain REX39 pages

Unfortunately you cannot reduce the frame cost of Flying Charge, it being a power itself... but you can attack multiple targets, including the Grotos at the end of the hal. Want to go for more than one?

Yeah, I will do that then.

The maximum number of targets for Flying Charge is three, so we'll go with that. After the first target, you take an increasing penalty for each additional target, so -2 for the second and -5 for the third. But there is no extra cost in Force points, so might as well take the risk!

Also, Carnival of Carnage and your lightsaber gives you +4 against mooks, and your lightsaber ignores their light armor and so the difficulty to hit them is 7, not 8.

You roll 14, 6, 20... three kills!

You initiate your Charge by moving quickly by the Grotos next to you, catching him in the chest with your lightsaber as you pass. As you dash in, you spin and block a few shots before tearing into the two nearest Grotos soldiers.

Then you duck as your men send a volley over your shoulder, gunning down the remaining three.

"The main room should be just beyond this corridor," one of Sparnik's men says as they move up to join you. "We'll circle up around it and finish this."

"Yes, lets make it quick"

I'll get ready to charge for the main room when the others are in place.

Force pool refreshes while you are getting into position.

There is a hallway that circles around the central room, branching off to other exits and quarters. You do not encounter anyone in the hallway; everyone must have dug into the central room.

Are you going in with your lightsaber or your pistol?

I will use my lightsabre.

Sparnik's men burst into the room, blasters blazing! Grotos soldiers have dug in, so to speak, amidst the computer banks, making themselves generally hard to hit with their armor and their cover.

As the Grotos are firing first, does Con wish to Defend?

Yes, can I do a force dodge?

That only protects you against one target. Is that okay?

Hmm, does defensive leap protect against more? If so I do that instead.

It does, giving you +2 Defense against all attackers as you flip backwards and out of harm's way. The only disadvantage is that it causes you to go a frame backwards. The mooks are three frames away, but they'll be four if you leap.

Not a problem if you are using a pistol, of course, but then you have to contend with their armor and their cover, which is negated by moving in with your lightsaber.

All a matter of style, really.

Could I use my pistol then and do that defensive leap? Could I get a defensive leap into cover?

Yes and yes. Going to do that?

Oh, and I forgot to list the Commander (supermook) that is bunkered down with the rest of his men. Added him in.

Yes, I'm going to do that then.

Alrighty then. Immediately upon entering the room, the militiamen and Con face retaliation from the Grotos. Five of the Grotos and their Commander gun for Con while the rest exchange shots with Sparnik's men.

Con, with his blaster in hand, flips backwards to take cover behind a nearby computer bank. This makes his Defense rating 17 (+2 from Leap, +2 from cover). Your attackers do not roll well enough to breach your cover and you are safe.

Your men and the Grotos are even on frames, but there is a general rule in this system that good guys shoot first. Despite the cover, they manage to score 8 kills and wound another for 3 hits! The Grotos respond in kind, killing 7 of you men. Computer banks fizzle and explode as bolts slam back and forth across the comms room, wall panels burst and fall to reveal wiring and infrastructure, men scream and fall as shots are exchanged.

Con is free to act, now from the safety of cover.

I'd like to shoot at the Grotos then. Gunslinger and CoC are always active, right?

Yes, unless you ask not to use them or, in CoC's case, you are shooting at a Named Character.

Con peers out from cover and takes some shots at the Grotos. A 12 and a 13 are kills, but a 1 is a miss. For dramatic effect, the heavy shot from Con's pistol smashes into a computer and it explodes violently.

The militiamen fire with you, taking down five enemies.

The Grotos are going to fire, with Con contending with only the Commander this time.

A force dodge against the Commander then.

With that kind of defense, the commander needs to roll an 18 to hit you... instead he rolls a 20! 8 damage to Con as a shot from the man's pistol bursts through a gap in your cover, blowing out the computer's screen and taking out your cover.

The Grotos are spot on, this turn. With all the bursts of gunfire they put forth (along with four 20s rolled... eek), they clear out ten of your men! Sparnik's men are without the benefit of armor or cover, at this point. Their numbers are cut in half as they fall about the room.

Can I drop the pistol and draw the lightsabre and flying charge at the the Grotos attacking as many as possible?
