STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Decay

You certainly aren't there for prisoners, so yes.

Alright, well then I just need to rest. I know where the base is?

Yes. If there is nothing else you wish to do before the morning, we can move ahead to what happens when you get there.

Lets do that.

The next morning, before daybreak, those assigned to this mission depart Sparnik's hidden base and begin the rigorous hike over the mountains. While this may sound like a daunting task, these are not the tallest peaks in the Galaxy and you are a Jedi. You are able to reserve your energy for the fight you know will come and the day-long trek at a fast pace means you arrive at the rocky clearing where the sensor array is located.

It is a small building with many dishes and antennae atop it. You see armed guards outside, but do nothing. Sparnik asked you to wait until you were certain that all your men had made it, and so you sit until you start to receive the signal- small blips on your comlink that won't come up as anything suspicious to the sensor station.

Is there another way to get into or only through the guards?

Seeing as there can be no survivors, through the guard may not be too bad.

Then I will attack. Are those guys mooks? If so I will use my guns with the Schticks CoC (Lv 3 and Gunslinger Lv3)

So the attack commences at sunset! As the sun is setting across the jagged mountain ridge, Sparnik's men get into position, as do you. They form a tight ring around the sensor outpost, hidden amongst the rocks for the ambush and for cover.

The guards outside the sensor array are clad in clunky orange blast armor, probably purchased from off-world. They carry some heavy duty assault rifles... but there are currently only fifteen men on duty, to your twenty-five and a Jedi.

But wait a moment... a 13 on your Observation roll means you spy the well-hidden trap doors surrounding the compound. You can't be sure what they hold until they open, but you sense danger from them.

So currently your plan is to start the attack by shooting down members of the guard. Gunslinger gives you a Gun skill of 15. Going ahead with that?

We'll go ahead with that, can I warn my people about the door? And does Carnival of Carnage work alongside Gunslinger?

It does. Carnival of Carnage, at your level, allows you to roll three dice instead of one. If you kill your Mook target on the first dice, you can use the other dice on another Mook. Basically, you can get up to three kills. Also, the Gun Trick gives you +1 against Mooks, as does your heavy pistol! So a skill of 17, then... it will be hard not to kill these guys...

You can warn your people about the doors if you forego shooting this turn.

I rather shoot, I think.

My mistake, you only get +1 from Gunslinger, so skill of 14. Impressive by any count, even more so against mooks like these Grotos soldiers. Not to mention Gunslinger puts your pistol's damage at 15. It packs a punch.

Let's getting rolling. 8, 13, 14... with an almost casual hand, you start the battle by shooting down three of the Grotos. Your shots ring out clear in the cold air of the mountain range. Sparnik's men follow your lead, letting off a volley from their carbines.

The Grotos are caught unawares and can do nothing. The guards all perish in the onslaught.

In response, the trap doors spring open and the automated turrets emerge, barrel-first. These are heavy duty units, with thick armor casings and enlongated barrels to deliver an accurate payload.

Sparnik's men are caught off-guard by the sudden emergence of the hidden weapons, but Con is not and may act ahead of the guns.

Can I get to one with Flying Charge? If so, I do that, otherwise I just move in and do a Force Dodge.

That would mean switching your pistol out for your lightsaber, which costs a frame if you use Draw, rather than two. The turrets (which are heavy weapons) would fire first. Is that okay?

Can I move in closer to them and fire? And would I then be exposed to their fire without a defense?

And Happy New Year (British Time 😛)

Passive rating of 13 is not entirely impressive. Your cover helps raise it 2 points. The novelty of a pistol is that you can attack from a distance, after all. So it is up to you how you want to deal with them.

Additionally, the way you avoid heavy weapons is that you can choose to dive clear of their shots. This halves the incoming damage before you subtract your Strength, but costs two frames.

I will shoot at them then and use cover.

Shooting from behind the rocks, you attack the turret. It is a Supermook and takes damage like you do, but Carnival of Carnage still works against it, meaning you roll three dice for 8, 5, and 20. The heavy shots punch into the armor of the first turret and leave it smouldering but not quite out, each shot doing 10 damage for a total of 30.

The turrets first with deep clunk! sounds, lobbing energy-encased rounds into the rocks around the sensor array. Thankfully, they impact against the rocks and only blow away the cover for nine of your men.

Well, I will continue firing from my cover, it doesn't seem to have worked badly last time. Aim at the first one to finish it off. Will the rest go tot he next then?
