She's not geting past his telepathic defenses. Whatever the explanation for them happens to be at the time, and now it's the helmet + some awesome willpower, they are predominantly portrayed as good enough to keep chuck and or jean out. If she is in her fleshy form he'll fry, crush or shut her down before she can get past his TP shielding, which I don't think she can do at all. If she is in diamond form, he'll dump a mountain on her or just hurl her into space.

What is stopping Mags from tearing some metal out of the ground and wrapping Emma in them? Her strength can't overwhelm electromagnetism. Then taking some of that metal and fusing it into a fine point drill, applying it to anywhere on her body and spinning it really fast. Diamond isn't that hard.....jewellers chip and craft diamond with hammer and tool all the time.

If we go by feats alone and not just statements from characters and narrators, then emma is just about the strongest telepath on earth along with exodus (who suffers too much from consistancy issues), stronger than chuck even (although this may attributed to Chuck's pacifist nature and role as a mentor not a fighter). I know how impressive she is. She's more versatile and has finer control than almost everybody. She uses her powers in far more offensive, effective ways and is utterly ruthless. But in an arena fight, this isn't enough.
Her only chance in hell is TP and Magnus's record against it is impressive enough for me to think she won't break his defenses in time to avoid being killed or BFRed.
Explanations for his resistance against TP vary, but let's take the helmet one as it is the most current: she will have to weasel arround or hammer through whatever it is that it does to reach his mind, while he can kill or BFR her with a thought. I don't remeber a single telepath affecting him with the helmet on in a story where his relative immunity to TP is atributed to it. Even without the helmet, he still has an awesome track record against TP.
I think current magneto will win here too. He has the helmet which currently explains his defenses against TP because it's standard equipment and what would be so exhausting about flinging her in orbit if she is in diamond form? Even at death's door from hypoxia he pulled himself and protees from earth. If she is flesh he fries her and that's it.

I actually don't know what the purpose of Magneto's helmet is. I think that it was only used in the live action x-men films to show TP resistance. There is no significance of Magneto's helmet in the comics, except for aesthetics.

Yes with an EMP. Hell, he could have thrown wolverine arround koing them before things got so out of hand (not to mention logan stabbing him was PIS)
The helmet used to be just a fashion statement, but after the movies and the ultimate universe the concept carried over into the 616. It's the current explanation for the 'why don't the 300 telepaths in the x-men just unplug his mind?' question.

Yeah I vaguely remember that. I liked that show though, it did alright in updating the fictional universe and x-men rosters. Not as good as the classic one from the 90s though.

No idea, It's been so long since I watched it, I can barely remember it. I was lucky it came out in my country before the rest of the world which is very, very rare for these things.
