Israeli Bombing raids, over the top?

Started by Final Blaxican33 pages

A few fools, maybe.

There is a common saying in Iraq -

''If two fish fight in the sea, be sure it is instigated by the British''

Didn't we have a thread a couple of years ago about that website that blamed Britain for everything that ever happened wrong in the world and demanded reparations or something.

That was lulz

And hypocritical.

I don't know...I think times have changed...our kids are getting worse...they won't obey their parents they just want to fart and curse.

Should we blame the government?

Or blame society?

Or should we blame the images on TV?

No, blame Britain
Blame Britain
With all their beady little eyes
And flapping heads so full of lies

That quote is relevant to Israel-'Palestine' conflict and this thread for obvious historical reasons.

In Iraq, the quote does not refer to ''blaming Britain'' but the old British imperial tactics of 'devide and conquor'.

Its a saying. Like pot and kettle don't really talk to each other.
Or maybe they do. When noone is around.

"Blaaaaaaaaaame Ger-man-yyyyyyyyyyyyy" fits better syllable wise.

Of course if you add the 'Great' to Britain, it'll fit just fine, no matter how erroneous that description is at times.

I concur.

Yeah, but Germany is not to blame for anything so it would make little to no sense.

Oh yes it is.

The BMW for a start. 😛

"Blame" and "Thank for ever on knees with mouth open" are two entirely different concepts.

Would that be "On knees begging the mechanic to hurry up, despite your fourth visit to his place of work that week."

Or

"On knees with mouth open screaming thanks at the mechanic for the temporary replacement while he puts his kids through college on the business that you have bought him....?" 😉

Anyway enough of me being right again, please continue the thread. 😛

**** YOU!!! THERE'VE BEEN WARS WAGED FOR LESS OFFENSE BEFORE!!!

And you lost both of them. 😛

Lose is such an ambiguous term.

As a Jewish Israeli, I feel compelled to comment here and give you further information about what is actually HAPPENING, instead of what the media is reporting. Don't believe everything the news networks say; all of them have a distinct bias in one way or another. After all, it's impossible to not be emotionally involved in a situation such as this.

Now, first off, you all need to understand the reason behind this war. There are some bloody good reasons, too. For the course of 8 years, a city called Sderot was oppressed and bombed by Hamas militants shooting rockets from Gaza. We tried to negotiate our way out of it, but to say that we failed on an epic scale would be an understatement. Y'see, religious extremism and fundamentalism is rampant within the Gaza strip. It's a poor, incredibly dense land with un-humanitarian living conditions. Hate to quote one of Obama's most controversial quotes, but yeah; in times of trouble, people cling to guns and religion. It applies everywhere in the world, including that.

I could get into the psychology of that later, but it's really irrelevant. The point is, through a campaign of fear, propaganda, and surprisingly charismatic speeches, the Hamas- an extremist terrorist organization- rose to power within the Gaza strip. Democratically. They've installed a government based off extreme militarism and aggression. Y'see, these people are nutjobs. Impossible to reason with. Their religious fundamentalism is unreasonable and flat-out unexplainable to almost anyone. So, that's why it's impossible to come to decent negotiations with these people; they believe in their religious cause so greatly that they are willing to blow themselves up in a public location and kill dozens of civilians. It's happened more than a few times in the past.

So, anyway, back to Sderot. Every day, more than a dozen rockets land there. People are afraid to live their hours. School's out. "CODE RED, CODE RED" alarms are heard every bunch of hours. Clearly, that's no way to live. And the Hamas is impossible to reason with, as I've shown above; their demands will never change. And while the majority of the Arab populace is willing to come to a compromise about this (I personally am all for a compromise. Give 'em Jerusalem for all I care. We're guilty of militarism and religious extremism, too), the Hamas' demands will never change from "Get the **** out of here or dieeeeee." The only way to essentially liberate Sderot was to launch an operation aimed at Gaza; to frighten the Hamas and give 'em a blow they aren't gonna recover from.

Another lesser known reason is a dude named Gil'ad Shalit. Almost three years ago, his tank was blown apart by a landmine. He himself was kidnapped and held in Hamas custody. Supposedly, he is alive and is held for ransom. The demands? We release 2000 Palestinian terrorists. The government simply couldn't bring itself to do that, so he is still a POV. Now, the operation was, in part, done as a response to his kidnapping. Though he hasn't been extensively mentioned in negotiations, so either we gave up on him or he's dead. Probably the latter, I'm afraid.

Now for the actual operation. We've killed tons of civilians- including children. I think the number is about 500 or so. Why? It's unjust. I agree on that. Problem is, Hamas philosophy doesn't value life- it teaches that dying in the 'service of the Islam' will get you in heaven, even if you don't do so voluntarily. So, they hide in civilian locations. Playgrounds, schools, even houses with whole families in them. Therefore, it's impossible to just eliminate them. We've done our best to get civilians out of the way, most notably dropping warning fliers from airplanes, warning them to evacuate their houses. Is it right? I dunno. Clearly it isn't working perfectly; they're dying by the hundreds. But I don't know if we can do more.

Here comes the ground attack. I guess bombing them was too unfocused or sumthin'; we needed to send squads of troops there, in order to deal a more specific, focused blow to Hamas militants and scare them enough to make them beg for a ceasefire. Problem is, with the ground attack... everyone is connected to these soldiers. My cousin, is in Gaza. I know a kid whose brother is also there. So far, only one soldier died (as opposed to dozens of Arabs) during this operation, but things aren't looking too good.

There you have it. This is the situation. As everyone who knows me here should know, I'm a liberal atheist. I'd love to say I am vehemently opposed to this operation- but I just can't say that. Negotiations aren't working and they are, themselves, committing crimes against humanity and constantly attacking us. Is there any way to prevent this other than military action? I don't know. Tough question. Too many people have died and we'll damage Gaza to an incredible extent, which is bad, but I don't know if there is any other choice. Anyways, nothing is black and white here.

Well, myself and- evidently- a lot of posters here blame hamas for creating that side of the stick so the sypmathy there is going to be low- especially as, as previously stated, that just seems to be knocking on Israel for being beter with their military, rathert than for any moral reason. I agree with the earlier stated comment that if the situation of arms was reversed, Israwl would face total annihilation, so in context their actions seem relatively light.

I made that comment, could have at least given me credit for it, ****ing Brit, you do start all the conflicts.

Cool it, Rob...

If you had followed the thread, you would have seen I was making a light joke considering the context.

Don't make me cut you, because I will.

No offense but wouldn't that make you extremely biased?
