Assassins Creed 2

Started by Alpha Centauri12 pages

I got it recently.

It's fun, but it is what I said it would be; one with more moves and different areas. Granted, the areas are more varied, but it's still a matter of doing the same thing over and over again.

The tomb parts were a nice addition, but even though they're different, it's still just an additional part you have to repeat. The free-running aspect of it would be much more fun if it wasn't so cumbersome, and the guards are so easy to escape from that they might as well give you a trenchcoat and joke shop glasses; it's hilarious.

My biggest gripes are that there isn't a stealth stance and there isn't an easier way to change weapons; making you go back to the Villa is redundant.

Regardless, it is like the first one in all the good ways, too. It's fun, fairly addictive and the good points are just captivating ENOUGH to make me overlook the fact that sometimes it bores me to tears.

If you've got one, you don't need to get two, but it's fun. I like it.

The fact that some people consider it the game of the year, though, is laughable, because it wouldn't touch Arkham Asylum, Left 4 Dead 2 or Resident Evil 5 if it was a oversexed octopus and they were all very ripe young women.

Just finished the game.

Really really cool, seems like game of the year for me (not finished UC2 yet, but this one beats it by a mile so far). Story got really interesting, althrough I figured out the gist of the sci-fi elements by the first hidden video we saw. Really can't wait for tee third.

Also had the best creduits I've ever seen in a game, brilliant idea letting us play during them, especialy as it was in the "present", just great.

I agree with most of that, it was a really good game. The variety of the missions to get to the actual assassination was much better, I think. All of the side quests were nice too, doing assassinations for Lorenzo was fun and at time, challenging. I've done them all.

The credits thing was really good too, very nice way to end it, however, the one thing I didn't like about, continuity wise was that

Spoiler:
the invaders brought a bunch of sticks and staffs or whatever with them? Umm....no. That would just be dumb. This is set in the future...they'd have brought guns, no doubt about it. I understand they just wanted us to play around as Desmond the assassin for a short time, but it doesn't flow, I don't think 😛 Fun though!

But if they brought guns, how the heck would it be fair? Bare handed Desmond versus a wave of enemies with guns, yeah that's fair 🙄.

Yeah I know. I was always thinking "For Assassin's Creed 3 (or whatever the present day one will be called, wonder how they will incorporate explosives and guns", but here they just ignored it. I am just going to go by the fact that they wanted Desmond alive and didn't want to accidently kill him by a stray bullet, and they used up all the tranquilizing shots they had ona wild party earlier that week.

That is what I am goint to HOPE FOR lol It's actually not a bad theory...

And as for future games, maybe they are going to add in some ACTUAL stealth gameplay features where you have to sneak behind people, assassinate their asses and do all that stuff. I really don't know though. Having actual guns and whatnot doesn't feel very assassine-ie (yeah, that's a word).

Well guns will come. Remember Altair talking about adapting to what needs to be done in the codex, and their motto, "Nothing is true. Everything is permitted", there's definitley no moral or anything that could stop them from using guns. Before you know it it all leads down to being in the Splinter Cell universe 😛

I beat the game a few days ago and the ending is still blowing my mind, and after watching the full 'Truth' video...

oh dear god. O_O

I just won a life size replica of Ezio's retractable blade and bracer.

****ing awesome.

That Truth video made me feel like I was watching a trailer for AC3.

So jealous...

This is easily one of my favorite games, Game of the Year material.

where'd you get that?

Local comic shop had a competition.

It's incredibly rare. Not on the commercial market 😄

Sure they are. I read a review by someone who bought the blade and he essentially said it was definitely a show weapon but still very fun to flick out.

Mine was made by Ubisoft. Not the same thing..

This one? If so, that some fine leatherwork.

Aye. that's it.

I got assassins 1 and 2 for christmas.

the first one bored me to death... so much in fact that I stopped playing it about 3 hours in. It seemed as if every minute there was another bad in game cutscene, and I hated the modern storyline.

Second game still has the stupid modern day thing going on but its 10x better. I have to admit though that I wasn't too impressed with the graphics. The outdoor landscapes in particular looked like something from an MMO (okay, a really good looking mmorpg)

I agree. It seemed last gen on the graphics. I'm expecting Gears of War or MW2 in-game cut-scene quality.

Also, I have to say that the free-roam parkour is VERY frustrating. Prototype is MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH better at free roaming. OMG, there's no comparison. It is so very frustrating and clunky...and unresponsive. Sometimes, I can chain together some not jumps, climbs, etc. Other times, it doesn't do what I want it to do. The Prototype Parkour engine is far from perfect, however, it is leagues better...primarily due to the augmented powers (me thinks.)

Still, Assassin's Creed II's story progression is very interesting and entertaining. Listening to the good Italian-English accents reminds me of my great-grandparents...
