2009: Skywarp, Thundercracker and Starscream are attacking Los Angeles. They pursue Sideswipe, Bluestreak and Brawn through the streets seeking to torture Prime to get the matrix.
After they cleverly isolate Bluestreak and Brawn from Prime, they all close in from three different angles and manage to overpower him.
They try to no avail to rip the matrix out from inside him and fly off With Prime's head, for reasons that we see leaving Prime body outside Mann's Chinese theater in quite the state of decapitation.
Back at the decepticon base in Oregon, they report back to and expectant Acting commander Shockwave who is waiting to give life to the newly constructed Constructicons (with a new body for Bonecrusher), and Jetfire..
He has also recovered Megatron from the abyss, but Megatron is hanging up in a state of repair on the biomechanical walls, along with the other damaged decepticons .
Megatron is NOT happy about being usurped by Shockwave.
And neither is Starscream either, as he sees himself as leader, but serves Shockwave for now.
They put Prime's head on a machine that was built to extract data.
But they have problems with the hardware in accessing what they need from Prime.
In a scene with some exposition about Shockwave about how Starscream's team will have to go find some component for it, it is revealed that as predicted safe guard, Prime absorbed the energy of the Matrix case in his chest and has been heavily encrypted in some awesome fashion that will take the deceps a few days to break.
At the Autobots new base dubbed affectionately the Ark, made from the craft that bought them to our solar system in the first movie.. (not that we saw it.) Ratchet and Wheeljack work on Primes body and ascertain what has happened to Prime's head and the Matrix.
At the meeting Prowl, Ironhide and Huffer are disappear suddenly in bright blue flash (with the sound of thunder backwards).
Meanwhile at decepticon HQ Megatron, Skywarp and Bombshell are suddenly not there anymore. The decepticons take it as an attack and go out to sort out the Autobots.
Prompted by the disappearance of the missing autobots,
Ratchet goes with Sam to go see what they can find out at the decepticons base, with Bluesteak, Sidewipe, Bumblebee and Cliffjumper as backup..
After a brief incursion with Decepticon security, the Autobots withdraw, being outgunned by Starscream and Thundercracker.
They fail to notice Sam jumping out of Ratchet before the left.
Sam finds his way inside the deceptibase (Trypticon) and uses a tracking device Ratchet gave him to find Primes head.
The tracking dev also has a dampening field around the user, designed to prevent detection by decep sensors, but leaves the user totally visible to the eye.
Prime's eyes light up in recognition of Sam and Prime reveals that the decep plan must be to extract the Matrix energy from his head in order to create sentiency among the Constructicons
Sam realises that he cant move Prime himself.
As the decepticons are outside pursuing the withdrawing Autobots,
(Gratuitous battle scenes intercut with Sam's mission) it'd be hard to get Primes headpast them even if he could move the head. Prime warns that the Decepticons must never get the matrix as it could tip the fortunes of the war. As he says this, Prime Appears to shoot Sam in the eyes with his own for second or two.
Prime looks wiped out for now and when sam regains conciousness after what looked like a trace for 10 secs he tells Optimus that he'll come back for him and leaves, all messed up.
(End of act I.)

Sam makes it to the rendevous site with the Autobots who sustained damage against the decepticons.
As we see the Autobot convoy approach the ark, they drive past a rock, which we stay focused on as they go by.
Out from behind that rock springs Ravage who scurries off back away to decepticon base. (Implication that he has been inside the Ark whilst the Autobot strikeforce was away.
He reports to tjhe newly returned Shockwave that the Autobots are as clueless about what happened to their lost numbers, as the deceps are.
Ext: quiet countryside.
Massive blue flash and a clap of thunder
And Two futurisic Jets, one lookin like a flying hovercraft the other is long nosed and has wings that angle forward rather than backwards.
They fliy to the nearest human airbase, and destroy a few buildings, shoot down planes and announce themselves to all present. Their weapons tech is incredible.
It yields much devastation.
The Jets fly to the Pentagon and transform as they land and they throw one such weapon to the floor. It transforms and increases in size and forms a massively powerful looking robot mode with a big orange cannon on his right arm he immedately uses it to level a nearby rockface as a demonstration of his might.
He announces to all and sundry that Galvatron has arrived and that earth is now his.
Back at Trypticon, the deceps efforts to unencrypt Prime's Matrix succeed. The manage to get prime to give a life giving energy burst of Matrix, enough to make them animate, but not yet fully sentient.
Shockwave realises what has happened and sees that Prime has already uploaded and moved the file.
Ravage shows that the Autobots returned to the ark with a human in tow. Shockwave begins to realise what has occurred, and after Jetfire has also been given life, its not really full sentience either, he orders the capture of Bumbleebee and the fleshling.
The constructicons transform and leave for the ark.
New York Times square.
Bright blue light and thunderclap.
Hot Rod, Kup and Blurr emerge from the rip in spacetime and immediately set about finding the Ark.
Acting City Commander Ultra Magnus scans the Ark's long range monitoring and sattelite feed out to find the source of the commotion caused by Galvatron, Scourge and Cyclonus.
Thats when he notices the times square arrivals too.
Trypticon picks ups signals too. Three of them and they approach fast.
Galvatron tackles on Shockwave and his lietenants, the seekers and overpower them with massive ease. Soundwave appears in G1 robot mode form and ejects Lazerbeak, Buzzsaw, Rumble, Ravage and Frenzy, but they cannot help him in his fight against Cyclonus.
Cyclonus beats him unconcious.
Galvatron commandeers the Decpticon forces and Trypticon.
and informs the decpticons that they will be building a new weapon of interplanetary range in Oregon.
The constructicons arrive at the ark and stop. The all treandform to robot mode. The Arks' sensors go off and Ultra Magnus Leads Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, Cliffjumper Red Alert and Tracks outside to meet the threat. The Constructicons (partly contolled by Shockwave), attack and the Autobots retaliate.
The battle seems even at first Constructicon strength against Autobot speed and sentience. But then the Constructicons combine and form (G1) Devastator who starts trudging forward to destroy the ark.
Magnus soon look likes he is on his own after many of the Autobots take even more of a beating..
..until Hot Rod, Kup and Blurr arrive to back his up. Magnus doenst recognise them, yet can tell they are Autobots. Blurr uses his ridiculous speed to attack devastator at his joints as Devastator rips a chunk off of the back of the Ark and throws it at Magnus, which he only just manages to avoid.
Hot rod blasts away with his arm cannons at Devastator's face and eyes. Kup attacks the legs, hoping to destroy Devastator's support.
The battle rages for a good five minutes and in the end the constructicons reteat after Kup forces the right leg to seperate and Devastator is half blinded and sustaining injuries from Magnus's shoulder mounted rocket attacks and Blurrs high powered laser rifle.
