STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Descent

"There are places where the Jedi Code can be flexible," Xeth says. "Where it is not, I don't try to bend it. There is much injustice in the Galaxy that the Order cannot normally reach, and it leads to dark places that a Jedi would be, even should be, loathe to go. But the Council has our basic tennants right; I just think the Jedi should serve everyone. Not just those the Senate sends us after."

"I like that. Maybe after this we can talk more about alternative. I don't think I can be a Jedi again."

Xeth shrugs.

"I'm always inviting Jedi and former Jedi alike to join my little league here. The Galaxy will never stop needing us, after all. Consider this operation a test, though. Clarion told me about what happened downstairs in the lobby."

"Yes, I understand. Thank you, Xeth". Con will retire to his quarters then.

"Quite welcome," Xeth says.

The next day, you are roused from sleep by Clarion. It is mid-day; the sting operation is happening at night.

"Good morning, Con," Clarion greets. No green-smoke cigarette today; instead, she has her hair pulled back, out of her face, and her lightsaber proudly displayed on her belt.

"Good morning, Master Clarion, I see you are ready for your mission."

"I am," Clarion says. "I just want to be sure that you are ready for yours. Remember our deal."

"I remember, I will not let you down."

"I have informed Xeth of our agreement. He will be watching closely."

"I understand"

I guess Con will get ready for the attack now then.

The plan is fairly simple. Vear's men (who have a Guns pool of 6 and +1 Armor, as you may recall) are being split into five groups. Each group is going to be led by a Jedi, yourself included. Xeth is trusting you with a group simply because Vear and his assault rifle/grenade launcher are going with you.

The groups are dispersing by speeder to various locations around the city where they can avoid Syndicate patrols and gain access to the sewers. From there, they will converge on the Malik's warehouse and enter from below.

Once inside, any resistance will be crushed and the Malik arrested, along with any followers.

Vear asks if you would like any equipment from his stores (armor, weapons, etc.) as you prepare with everyone else.

What are the rules on armor? And what about grenades? I have my blaster still, yes?

Yes, you do. Remind me- light pistol or heavy?

Armor reduces damage for every point you take, but it also penalizes your Agility for every point as well, thereby affecting pools based off of it. This includes your Lightsaber pool.

Grenades... I am not sure. I believe they require Heavy Weapons; otherwise, I'd say a straight Dexterity roll to toss it.

Oh wait, my agility decides the lightsabre score? That's not good, could I maybe penalize dexterity instead?

I am not sure about light or heavy pistol, can you tell me the difference so I can decide?

And fair enough on the grenades, I think I might get Heavy Weapons with my next xp.

Lightsaber has special rules; if any of your stats is penalized, it goes down.

Light pistols have a base damage of 2 but give you +3 to your pool.

Heavy pistols have a base damag of 3 with a * rating.

You have a few grenades from Vear.

I'd take a heavy pistol then, I use pistols generally to kill mooks, that's what they are better for, right?

And fair enough, then I stay with agility, as I need dex for blasters and strength for my hp.

Are you opting out for armor?

Yes, I think I have to, two penalty on my agility would be too painful. And I guess I'll take a heavy blaster, because of the * rating they are better at killing mooks, right?

Yes. It means you only need two successes to kill them (so long as they're not wearing armor).

As the strike groups assemble, you also get to meet the other three Jedi rogues that Xeth brought with him. Unsurprisingly, they are all Freelancers- in essence, swordsmen and combat-types. People you would be afraid to cross blades with.

The older, more experienced Jedi of the three is Kosta Quel-Thaas. He uses a pair of lightsabers and is very gaunt, tall, blonde, blue eyes. Instead of Jedi robes he wears green fatigues. He has an assault rifle slung across his back, an older model.

Densk Shadowtracer is a dark-skinned young man hailing from a desert world, his robes dark and reminscent of an ancient Egyptian governor, with an intricately designed lightsaber at his side.

The youngest is Delfedd Maktathee, who has a vibro-katana, suppressed laser pistol and a lightsaber, but looks the most like a Jedi.

All are very prideful in their abilities.

I will greet them and perhaps make some small talk with them. You know, where they are from, what they expect.
