superman would never do the same...he'd be dodging surfer's blast by flying around in circles at superspeed...something brb is not capable of
Besides guys, this isn't exactly a tactic I'm pitching for Surfer to get a win. I'm just pointing it out as a viable possibility against almost anyone who's back is turned.

Let's keep in mind the obvious: whatever the writers best think is going to move/enhance a story will likely dominate events. It's virtually cliche that when Good Guy fights Bad Guy for the first time, Bad Guy wins, this to increase the drama. But what's throwing a lot of people off here is that Surfer is hardly a Bad Guy.
The Fat Lady has yet to sing.

I think comic writers are far more concerned with advancing a story than with portraying power levels consistently. If in the future, they need BRB to defeat Surfer, they will no doubt find a way.
You all are reading to much into that story. That wasnt even a fight, it was a portrayal of attitude. The thing about that fight is that it was over with in the second panel due to a surprise attack that surfer hit beta ray bill with. If that would have never happened it would have been a much longer fight that could have went to either opponents. The worst thing to get hit by is a surprise attack because you dont have enough time to brase yourself. Beta ray bill not only got hit by a surprise attack but it was an attack from a board that is indestructible and that came at him at light speed.
You cant base your judgement off of that fight.

A portrayal of what? Fact is that surfer using his board is a perfectly viable tactic both in a comic and forum match. Further as we clearly saw surfers blows were pretty devastating to BRB while BRBs attacks didnt harm surfer. Also most of that fight was off panel and so we really didnt see much of what went down. However, it ending with BRB in the fetal position is pretty decisive portrayal of surfers superiority.

Who wouldnt surfer strength work against, he's a top tier in the strength dept? I'm simply saying that after that board hit, bill was done because it was a surprise attack that gave surfer an immediate advantage.

THe point is that surfers attacks were shown to be more powerful and damaging than bills were. This in itself is a sign of superiority. Also surfer using his board against bill is a perfectly viable tactic to use on this forum and hence there is absolutely no reason to rule out that fight when debating an SS vs Bill forum matchup.
Originally posted by Philosophía...I think this too would be writer-determined in a comic fight. Superman certainly has the speed and senses for avoiding such a strike, but as well, it's not like he's never been caught by surprise.
The board would certainly not tag a speeding Superman.
In a comic fight, I could see Superman getting tagged. It would probably stun him for the moment (during which Norrin would *sigh* monologue), after which, should Surfer try it again, Superman would catch it. Then...THEN, it would be interesting to see what happens, ie, who has the stronger flight force. 😖hifty:
Surfer has always had the definite advantage of being to attack from two fronts. He's used it since his early days and always to good effect.

surfer using his board against ANYONE is a viable tactic but I'm pretty
sure it wont happen in a 10/10 match. Surfer showed no superiority in
that fight, he just took advantage of a guy that was hurt. That fight
was kind of like gladiator vs Masterson thor, gladiator had the upper hand
in the beginning of the fight, then he gets hit in the back by a lightning
bolt which gave Masterson an edge that he took advantage of.
Bill got in two shots in the beginning of the fight, he had the upper hand
until he got snuck attack on which gave surfer an advantage.
By the way, did you see any blood or bruises on bill when he got up?
Both was uninjured in that fight and I'm pretty sure that if bill stood
over surfer pounding at him surfer would have bleed. You're argument
is pointless. Tell me when Bill and surfer fight without any sneak attacks.

This statement isnt even debatable, surfer has the strongest flight source by miles and surfers board hitting supes in the back of the head with a surprise attack would f*** him up.

Ok now this is just ridiculous. Bill was uninjured? Are u freaking blind or trying to be purposely idiotic? Surfers first blow bloodies Bill. At the end of the fight we see a bloody bill in the fetal position and u say that he was uninjured in the fight? Honestly if u truly believe that then something is wrong with u.
Further, surfer using his board was not a sneak attack. saying it was, is just monumentally daft. Using his board is EXTREMELY tactic for surfer to use to assist him in getting a majority (whether 7/10,8/10,9/10 or 10/10)he afterall WILL BE FIGHTING TO THE BEST OF HIS ABILITIES.
The fact is that Surfer took bills blows undamaged meanwhile his blows seriously hurt bill while Surfer was HOLDING BACK. That is a clear sign of superiority. Further using one of ur numerous avenues of attack is in no way a sneak attack. Ur entire "argument" (if it can even be called that) is completely nonsensical. It ranges from u completely ignoring what is shown on panel and replacing it with ur own fabrications to u labelling a perfectly viable method of attack in a forum fight "a sneak attack" and subsequently attempting to disregard the entire fight on that basis.
Really carver even for u thats pretty weak.........

It would certainly be writer-determined, as all things are but my point is that in a forum match, it's not only the fact that Superman has the ability to avoid it, but at the speeds he would be moving it would be hard for Surfer to pin-point him and direct the board twoards him to tag him in the first place.
As for a comic fight, Superman would catch it with one-hand and break it by hitting Surfer with it. And then he'd probably overwhelm Surfer with physicall attacks, while Surfer tries some generic energy blasts.

Originally posted by carver9Lockjaw was able to immobilize Surfer's board. And Supes I think would take the hit at least as well as an enraged Hulk. But it's a tactic that would likely work only once.

And for those who feel Surfer's board attack was below the belt, may I remind you that this tactic has been used often enough by Captain America with his boomerangin' shield.
