The "compassion" ring going to Ray "I f*ck people up by torturing them in the same way my wife killed one of my closest friend's wife" Palmer.

Something seems off there.

And, by the way.... more good "Brightest Day" news:

I bought Blackest Night: Power of Shazam #48.

Spoiler:
It was alright, all in all, though I did want to see more light shed on the whole Black Adam/Isis thing regarding their status after the Black Adam arc resolved in JSA, plus I was expecting to see more of Billy and Mary. Basically, Osiris rises from the grave, as does Sobek, and Osiris resists his "programming" and ends up avenging his murder. I thought it was neat that Osiris was shown to actually be able to resist the Black Lantern rings due to the magic coursing through him, but it does raise some odd questions. If he was able to resist the effect, why couldn't Spectre or other magical beings that I would put > Osiris? Perhaps it had to do with something regarding Shazam's return or the pantheon of gods which powered the Black Marvel family.

I'd recommend it if you're a fan of the Marvel Family in general or have to read all Blackest Night stuff. If you miss or skip out on it, it's no big deal.

So Mogo is the shit 😄

This is exactly what Didio and DC said was going to happen after IC came out. The DCU was going to become a "brighter" place. It's not like there wasn't plenty of time to get used to the idea.

The same claims were made after Infinite Crisis ... 10 months later we have a Crocadile eating a cripple and Black Adam single handidly commiting genocide in a make-believe country. 6 months later an armada of ailens with nigh opnipotent rings powered by fear show up, with a genocidal Superman kid, and a Guy who nearly suceeded in killing the multiverse. 8 months later, some wierd Marlevolent God tries of enslaves the entire planet, with an mathematical form of the Anti-Christ and some kind of meta physical Vampire tries to eat existence ! .... Its hardly been All sunshine and Rainbows !

Power of Sazam was one of my favourite single issues, ever.

😕

I never read that either after IC.. confused1

GLC 44 was pretty good. However, Phantom Stranger tops it all. We finally get a good idea of who he is, and stuff about the white light. Very nice

He defeated all the Black Lanterns in OA by himself

He has an incredible power to increase his gravitational pull, with this he sucked all good and bad guys from OA saying the Green Battery. It was very strong that no one was able to resist it. It's his secret mission to given to him only the guardians, no one else new

I'm guessing you were confused by my statement about this being said after Infinite Crisis, and then Cartesian Doubt contradicting me by saying the claims were made after Infinite Crisis?

Anywho, between IC and FC there was some pretty stupid "grim and gritty" type stories, but DC seems like they're genuinely making a push to tell good stories that don't rely on women being shoved in refrigerators or rape in order to have emotional resonance.

That particular origin is about twenty years old, and we've seen it most recently in the Vertigo "Madame Xanadu" series.

It's the least interesting of the four different origins of the Phantom Stranger, in my opinion.
