Green Lantern #50 Spoilers

The New Guardians and their deputy Lanterns, WW, Lex Luthor, Mera, Scarecrow, Flash, Ray Palmer, and Ganthet are busy in Coast City fighting off the Black Lanterns. Flash and Saint Walker deal with BL Firestorm, Mera and Atrocitus fight BL Aquaman and son, Star Sapphire and WW try to revive Donna, Indigo-1 and Ray speak gibberish while scuffling with another BL, while Hal basically voices his concern with Luthor and Scarecrow with power rings. Scarecrow is basically tripping balls with his newfound power, while Larfleeze is trying to take Luthor's power ring away from him to which Luthor resists while uttering "S'mine."Things go down hill as Black Lantern Spectre arrives on the scene. Spectre forcibily casts judgement on Hal for living and begins turning him into a Black Lantern. Sayd and Ganthet stop the process, saving Hal from his fate. Spectre then literally swallows the Guardians whole, to which Hal manages to save via a giant hammer construct to the jaw.
Meanwhile, Sinestro is trying to get Scarecrow to work on the same page instead of tripping out In his madness, Crane confronts Spectre only to be put on a stake much like his namesake. The rest of the Lanterns combine their efforts to attempt to severe the BL ring connection to Spectre and almost succeed, only to have Spectre stop them. Ganthet states the Spectre's power nearly eclipses their (assuming he means the Guardians) own. Atrocitus muses that the Spectre is rage fused with death and comments on how he'd like to have him as a member of the Red Lantern Corps.
Hal finally suggests that Ganthet transports the four earth GL batteries which house Parallax, argueing that bonding with Parallax is the one thing that can possibly hold off the BL Spectre, going as far as to claim that Parallax even scared Spectre. Sinestro argues that he should be to control Parallax, releasing the entity from the four batteries once they are teleported to their location. Hal and Sinestro fight each other, each wanting to use Parallax. Carol attempts to disaude Hal from his course of action, to which Hal replies that he has no choice but to become Parallax again in order to save Coast City. The two kiss and Hal flies toward the entity, restricting him with his power ring and allowing fear to creep into his heart.
Parallax willingly jumps into Hal's body, causing an explosion and after the smoke clears, Hal's left standing in his old Parallax costume, while Parallax seemingly in full control. The issue ends with Parallax stating "So...Spectre...where were we?"
All in all, kick ass issue, imo 👆

I thought so too, I loved how it ended.
Johns seems to miss the fact that the last time Parallax/Spectre fought, in Zero Hour, Hal had the Central Power Battery and more going for him, and he was still drained from the battle to the point where the heroes could beat him, even moreso Spectre being the one standing in the end, pumping energy in order to recreate the universe. Now Hal just merges with Parallax and is able to match/beat Spectre ? And again with this Guardians being Spectre or at higher level ?

This is indeed stupid. Spectre is scared of Parallax? HOW THE F^%$ IS THE WRATH OF GOD SCARED? What's even more stupid as Philo said, the Guardians are apparently as strong as Spectre. Besides some stupid stuff John is doing, the issue was very nice. They can't stop Spectre whatsoever.

Spectre needed a depowerment. Always has, with how much he hangs around DC Earth. I realize purists will hate how quickly it's being done, without a full explanation. And I'll agree on that aspect of it. But it needed done. Kudos to Johns for realizing it and biting the bullet. Now future writers don't have to find a crazy plot device around Spectre for every single event.

I agree. I'm not going to be hung up over this, because this isn't even anywhere near Spectre's lowest showing in the first place. I'm reasonably sure Johns isn't plotting how to screw over characters for the sake of Vs. debates.

👆 I believe it is just the Guardians believing they are THAT powerful, and they are powerful but not like The Spectre, right after Ganthet said that Atrocitus says to him "It (Spectre) does eclipse your own Guardian". Him and Mera are devising a plan to get The Spectre to wear a red ring. Also it could be just Hal was a human again and couldn't SEE The Presence/The Voice calling The Spectre home and Hal just believing he was scared. The Spectre IGNORED Parallax and did as he was told (why else would they show that again? lol). For what its worth I'm sure Sinestros right when he told Hal "You don't know what you're doing Jordan!" 51 should be interesting.
The issue was good but it's getting really tiring to see Johns wanking his faves a la Starlin.
As for the whole Spectre thing I don't see why he needs a depowering, especially since he is supposed to be by definition a deus ex machina.
And certainly if someone was to do something like that, he should be far more qualified for the character like Ostrander than a relative Spectre hating noob (in relation to the character) like Johns.
Having said that, the strange thing is that Johns treated Spectre relativelly good in Day of Judgment.
And more importantly in #4 of GL Rebirth. Johns states that the Spectre left because he was called by the Presence. It was the time he went to merge with Crispus Allen for the first time.
So it's clear Hal doesn't know what he is talking about.
Anyway can't wait to see the big showdown in #51 and hope that all seven corps + guardians + other heroes + Parallax will be required to take down Spectre.
Any less will be an insult IMO.
