I'm undecided and probably will be until I've read both in their entirety. I loved the epic battle at the end of Sinestro Corps War, especially the scenes where the Guardians take on the Anti-Monitor and Superboy prime, but there's also something to be said for the initial shock factor behind Blackest Night #1 with the death of the Hawks. I literally jumped.

How about you?

Sc corps so far but I am really enjoying blackest night thus far. Mainly the main books and green lantern books though.

I've always stated the Spectre has limits and agree with how he is being portrayed here.

the only reason they put that limit is so he couldn't affect Blackest Night...Its certainly not a limit he's shown before...EVER.

Spectre always been a plot device character.

I didn't say EVERY tie-in was redundant.

But out of the 49 extra books that tied into BN, most were.

49 is overkill, no?

most? i wouldn't go that far.

what limits?

Batman, Superman, Atom, and a few other tie ins were very good. You could say that there are all the same but when it came out, it was fresh

Needing an amp in coie, being far outlcassed when going up against an amped Marvel prove his limits. He's impotent it seems against someone like Nekron.

In the latter case Marvel was incredibly powerful and the Spectre didn't even have backing or a host. In fact DOV was a very high showing for the Spectre all things considered because it disproved the notion that the Spectre needs the Presence's backing to kick ass. The way I see it the Spectre at full power/backing/merged with the Source should be roughly equal to the Living Tribunal and at the weakest (hostless and without backing) he should be above High Herald at Mid to High Skyfather level. His standard level of power should be somewhere in between Elder God and Eternity level.

he's god's wrath. when backed by god, he has no limits, period.

otherwise, it's ambiguous at best. he's supposed to be an angel, but doesn't get treated as such.

HUGE SPOILER! SO BE WARNED

Your right, that arc was his best showing w/o aids from outside forces.

Well many already predicted this months ago so that's not a big deal, but who it is? That's the big spoiler.

I have no idea where it's going to be revealed, but it's the final image of an issue (not sure what).

No, the who it is was very surprising. The fact that there is one is not. It's okay, he will be replace by the you-know-who

My point is he's always been limited before. It varies from story to story but the guy can't just do whatever he wants.

In coie don't you think he was backed? If all that was needed was backing he wouldn't need the others amp. You can disagree with me all you want, but other beings funneling their power over to him in one of the biggest crises ever to hit the dc universe tells me otherwise. I don't want to derail this thread into a mini debate. I have been enjoying the main titles of this story along with hal's book.
