Hence my hint 😛

he's god's wrath. when backed by god, he has no limits, period.

otherwise, it's ambiguous at best. he's supposed to be an angel, but doesn't get treated as such.

According to the writing, the Spectre's never had to deal with a being like Nekron before, so apparently, his previous showings don't really matter here.

Then again, I've seen the Spectre demolish robots and dinosaurs, so "not having a soul" doesn't seem like much of a reason why he can't harm someone.

I don't get what people understand. He can't pass judgement. When someone is alive, they have a soul, they show emotions mainly love, hope, fear, greed, hatred, compassion and will(even though it's not an emotion). With that said, when one has the soul, he can be punished because of his sin that tainted his soul. Without a soul, the Spectre must use other means like in DOv or anywhere else which he use normal attacks. Against Nekron, he didn't have a host, nor did he have time to fight. He can to punish Nekron's tainted soul, but he didn't have one. He might have resorted to other attacks, but Nekron said begone! and Spectre disappeared

That's what I pretty much think. I don't think Spectre is helpless against someone/something without a soul - he still has crazy powerful magical/divine might at his disposal - but he just can't judge them (which is basically a one-hit move so to speak). I'm almost positive that Spectre, if he had more time, would have just started to unleash all kinds of stuff on Nekron (whether or not it would have succeeded is anyone's guess), but Nekron just BFRed him before he got the chance.

Totally wasn't expecting that.

Really thought Superman was going to be given that role 😂

OH SHI-!

There's some serious Power Rangers stuff brewing.

well..seeing that Hal get to become Parallax..it's only fair for Sinestro to get to be that..Ganthet said that Sinestro is important in Blackest Night..they won't give everything to Hal..

My point is he's always been limited before. It varies from story to story but the guy can't just do whatever he wants.

In coie don't you think he was backed? If all that was needed was backing he wouldn't need the others amp. You can disagree with me all you want, but other beings funneling their power over to him in one of the biggest crises ever to hit the dc universe tells me otherwise. I don't want to derail this thread into a mini debate. I have been enjoying the main titles of this story along with hal's book.

with backing he'd wipe out anything and anyone, so no, i wouldn't say he was backed by the Presence in COIE, as it wouldn't have made sense.

this isn't like Final Crisis.

so have i.

as far as i can tell, to destroy Nekron would be to destroy "death" which in a universe that spends so much time relying on duality and opposites, would be almost impossible.

plus, he judged

Spoiler:
Parallax
just fine. Maybe Nekron simply hadnt done anything worth judging him for? He didn't technically do anything that was outside of his purpose, did he?

after the year Superman has had, i'd be surprised if he had even one good showing in any book.

Bring on the Anti Monitor Nekron fight !!!!!!

I see it happening, now that Specters out of the equation.

Well BN 7 comes out today, well see what else happens. Nekron is a demonic version of death and The Spectre is the angel of death. I don't think we've seen the last of The Spectre.

Imo, it's over for him. He played his part. It seems he can't do much. If he uses a host, a Black Ring will capture him. Without it, he is useless, Nekron will just banish him. Next is AM, then Nekron

Issue = great. Some really nice moments for me.

Spoiler:
Scarecrow and Luthor finally pitching in with a real effort

The White Entity

The sheer number of Black Lanterns (Three BILLION for each Green Lantern i think they said) in the universe.

The revelation that life began on Earth, and that the White Entity was hidden there to protect life.

That splash page of the Lantern Corps together.

Very nice issue. John has done great. He really is showing just how dangerous Nekron really is. Incredible!

Spoiler:
The guardians seem to be even more powerful, but because they resent emotions, they have gotten weaker

Spoiler:
Luther is amazing, as well as Sinestro
Spoiler:
I loved that 3 billion (and more) for each lantern
Spoiler:
the invade seems to resemble how the guardians look like
Spoiler:
The greatest lie has been revealed

Can't wait for next one

FLY MY MONKEYS! but NOOOO!

Spoiler:
they took Scarecrow's ring away already?

Life began on Earth? Errr?

Beautiful art though
