STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Liberator

Senator Farl says that keeping watch outside his room is perfect for the starting of your duties to protect him.

That's the plan then! Wentar will be on watch outside of Farl's room tonight.

Excellent.

The film that Senator Farl has selected for yours and his viewing pleasure is a period piece set thousands of years in the past. It is a modern rendition of a Jedi legend regarding twin brothers who allowed the Dark Side to take hold of them when they both fell in love with the same woman, resulting in a final duel in which they destroy an entire world with their rage.

Part of the way through the film, however, Emso interrupts to alert Wentar that a message has come for him from the Order.

Wentar will excuse himself and take the message right away.

A summary of the message...

- It is a pre-recorded message from Jedi Master Eeth Koth, of the Jedi Council.

- It contains the final report on the Starduster operation that you stumbled into, deeming the mission an overall success despite the death of Officer Quinto and your unfortunate wounding at the hands of the Smuggler.

- They confirm the identity of the Smuggler- a man named Hanza, a well-known criminal with several warrants out for his arrest and even more bounties for his death.

- They also confirm that, despite their best efforts, Hanza escaped, and they are convinced that he left the planet.

- Several of the Starduster members were taken into custody; few were uninjured, most were killed by Quinto and yourself. None are talking.

Interesting... Wentar send a reply to Master Koth, thanking him for the message before returning to the Senator.

Seems like Hanza is more dangerous then I originally believed.

Savoir-Faire check... two successes.

You actually know the name Hanza, you just did not know what he looked like. He is an all-around criminal type who likes to dabble in all kinds of illicit dealings... including slavery. He has never been caught; most bounty hunters refuse to take contracts on Hanza.

Bad news in general.

The night passes slowly but uneventfully after you finish your film. Standing guard is not exactly a glorified task, but it is the only way to be sure that Senator Farl does not see harm. Even if this threat is not yet tangible.

Something of note does happen, though. When Wentar sneaks into his quarters to take a brief nap during his time on watch duty, he finds an object on his bed that was not there earlier.

That's not right... Wentar will quickly examine the object, maybe sense if it's dangerous or not (not sure if there is a force power for that.) before picking up the object and returning to his post, random objects appearing in his bed is a clear sign something is amiss and someone who isn't suppose to be here may be lurking around. Which means leaving the Senator unguarded is bad.

Jedi have a general 'danger' sense, and you are not sensing any.

It is a tape.

Wentar will pocket it and go check on Farl first.

Farl is sound asleep and very much not assassinated.

There's a plus. Wentar will watch the tape then.

You return to the communication room where you received the message from the Council. Placing the tape into the reader, you notice something. This tape is exactly like the recording tapes that are next to the comm unit...

This concerns me a little... but since I have no inspiration yet. Play the tape!

The tape plays. It is only an audio recording; no hologram pops up. The voice that speaks is deep but highly distorted; whoever they are, they used a method of disguising their voice.

"Senator Farl, I'm coming for you," it says. "And you won't even realize it. My employer has had enough of your antics and your posturing in the Senate. You're bad for business, and any sick man would know that you fight what ails you. Resign from the Senatorial position you hold or you'll find that we can get you anywhere, anytime..."

The tape ends.

As the tape ends Wentar leans back in the chair, an eyebrow raised. A threat meant for Farl left in my own bed... odd.

Okay... Now I have a few ideas running through my head.

First off, I wanna make a quick inspection of the other recording tapes, possibly if they have been recently disturbed, out of place, maybe one of them looks to be missing. Are they labeled, like the old VHS labels, that tell whats on the tape? How common are these kinds of recording tapes?

These kinds of tapes can be bought just about anywhere.

They are unlabeled; the recording tapes in the communications room are all blank.

However, the blank tapes are in a small box near the comm unit, with each in a protective slot. One of the slots is empty.

Alright, by the sounds of things the Senator will be fine tonight, why kill him and leave a threat he'll never hear? Makes little sense... It's very likely that recording was one here.... Can Wentar check anything on the comm unit? See if any recent recordings were made?

How is Wentar with Fix-It?

Fix it of one... Perception of three, a grand total of 4!
