STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Liberator

You can have found out that they were discovered alive in a storage closet near the landing pad, bound and gagged. Apparently the assassins took them unawares and knocked them unconscious. You are surprised that they did not kill the guards, and the Senatorial guards are curious as to why, and if you have any conjectures.

Senator Farl's idea about a Dark Jedi being behind this holds more water now... A Dark Jedi would know that I would have sensed their deaths and ordered the assassins not to kill the guards.

They certain didn't do it because they only wanted to kill Farl, his senatorial party was also incinerated.

The prospect of a Dark Jedi being behind this murderous plot is worrying indeed. The Senatorial guard thanks you for your ideas on the matter, and for letting them know to search for their missing guards.

It could be that the Senatorial party just happened to be there at the time.

Possibly. We have no real way to confirm their motives...

Wentar still feels strongly about Farl getting someone to investigate these threats though.

And Farl remains evasive about getting someone to investigate.

When you return to the suite, Emso is eagerly awaiting your return.

"Nothing has happened in your absence, Senator, Master Jedi," Emso says respectfully.

"Prepare supper, Emso," Farl says. "Today, we celebrate the fact that I am still alive."

"Yes, Senator," Emso says. "Oh, by the way, the Senatorial guard left this for you, Master Jedi."

He hands over a datapad before leaving to prepare dinner.

"Thank you, Emso," Wentar will read whatever is on it right away.

It is an analysis of the bodies of the slain assassins. The Senatorial guard reports that they had first tried to take prints from the hands and feet of the assassins, but were foiled, as each and every finger and toe had been replaced with cybernetic parts. They resorted to DNA readings, but have so far had no success as they were not in Coruscant's system. They are now getting clearance to check with other worlds in the Republic, but it could take years. They are also checking with the starports to see if the assassins are recognized.

Otherwise, they have no good news.

This is bad... worse then Wentar anticipated, cybernetic parts mean this wasn't a cheap operation. Someone has serious backing here...

Unfortunately Wentar has no ideas that haven't been mentioned... yet.

Replacing fingerprints with cybernetic parts is not a practice you are familiar with. You would imagine it would not be too costly financially, but still, it would require removing fingers and toes. Whoever they are, they mean business.

While Emso is preparing supper- a simple stew using standard ingredients, Farl announces that he wishes to retire to his chambers. He does not seem tired, but anxious; you can sense it easily, Wentar.

Emso continues with supper. "He'll be hungry when he wakes, I'm sure," Emso says. "He always is."

"He probably just needs some time alone to collect his thoughts, after all it was a very close call," Wentar says. "But this is only the beginning, whoever these people are they are not going to stop after one attempt."

Emso remains oddly quiet when you say that, while he assembles his stew.

"I suppose not," he finally says. "Do you think you can stop them, though? I know the Senator does not want it investigated, but he does not understand."

"Even Jedi can slip up, I will try to stop them but my success is not certain," Wentar replies. "Senator Farl's unwillingness to have this investigated does confuse me... He can't honestly believe he will be safe once he leaves Coruscant."

"Triskatan is a very secure world," Emso says. "I have lived there for some time, with the Senator. But... these assassins appear more dangerous than the Senator anticipates."

"Indeed, I'm not sure why the Senator doesn't see it."

"Perhaps he simply refuses to," Emso says, "hoping that others will not see it either."

"Not the smartest of moves," Wentar sighs. "Sorry to keep you cooped up in here for the past few days. After that incident with the guards I can't help but feel your the only one close to the Senator I can trust."

"Yes... I am most devoted to Senator Farl," Emso says. "Say, you listened to the tapes I gave you, yes?"

"I did," Wentar says with a nod. "It does seem a lot like slavers acting out against his cause... Though I don't understand the 'any sick man would know that you fight what ails you' line."

"I... I believe the speaker means to say that you get rid of something that is making you feel bad," Emso says, timidly. "I could be wrong, of course."

"Hmm... Are there any other tapes you want to show me?" Wentar asks. "I only found the one."
