How do you obtain your comics?

Sucks to be him.

Two official warnings have already been issued as a result of the bashing in this thread. With my patience quickly running out, any repeat offenders will be temp banned, and any first-time offenders won't be far from it either, depending on the severity. Frankly, resorting to outright flaming over a petty disagreement is about as immature as it gets. Such posters do not bring anything to KMC, will quickly relinquish their right to post if it continues.

I'm spending my time in a way I enjoy, so it's time well spent.

Therefore, it's also money well spent. Thus, I don't care I have to pay it. I would feel worse if I'd stolen it, so I'd be getting more negatives than positives.

Philosophia, quite funny.

Smurph: Deadpool #13 is out, I've already got it, so I can't be busy getting what I've got. Secondly, it's a bit more than an hour if there's no traffic.

Going out of my house to buy things I like isn't a chore. Sure, it'd be nice if there happened to be a store I didn't have to bus to, but there isn't. I had a subscription to Marvel to save time, but it was too slow. Failure argument on multiple levels.

As for your money argument, it makes no sense. You can't get time back, so it's inarguably more precious. You should always pay for something you want unless it's given to you.

Kris agrees with me, he's just a hypocrite.

I got one.

It's free.

It's not, it's stolen.

Also, quoted why? "There're" is short for "There are". You know, like "There's" = "There is". "Generalisation" is...well, you know that word.

So... who's up for some downloading ?

😂

by my own admission, i've downloaded issues of comics that i've ended up buying. example: when i first got in to downloading, i downloaded an issue of Superman by a relatively unknown artist called Ed Benes. So what did i do? I went out and bought every issue of Superman drawn by ed benes, and they sit proudly in a box back in ireland.

have i downloaded issues of blackest night? yes. will i be buying the issues/trades when i get the chance? definitely. therefore, imo, DC isn't losing any money, because i'll go out and buy any comic i really like, and don't use downloading as an alternative to buying. anyone who does when they can afford to buy them is a dolt, imo.

if you genuinely can't afford to buy or don't have access to comic shops, i can understand why you download. i've been in that position myself, and it is anything but laziness, so painting everyone with the same brush is just silly.

as long as companies aren't losing money that you could be paying them, then i don't see a problem with it, tbh.

Wasn't that clear enough?

It's not, it's stolen.

And thus, free.

Buy most of the time, DL stuff that im not too sure about, then if i like it i will start to buy the run or get it in trades.

No.

Stolen /=/ Free.

Stolen is ignoring a price.

Free is sans price.

Both of which end up with you gaining something without spending money. aka, for free.

It's not about what YOU gain or lose, it's about if the item has a price or not.

If it was free, ya wouldn't have to steal it. Do ya see?

It is. People don't want to pay for it, so they take the alternative and dl it. It's easy, and free. Not everyone wants to pay.
Simple really.

Well, I was drunk and I saw typos. 🙂

Can you steal free samples at the store?

Yes or no? No. Thus, it's only STEALING if it has a price and is therefore not free.

What part of this escapes your keep net?

I never said it wasn't stealing. 🙂

I said it was free (meaning you don't have to pay). Which explains why people do it, and is a good enough excuse for a lot of people.

I understand what you're trying to say (not really though, because you're arguing about nothing), but regardless, DL's are free. Maybe it's not morally right, but you don't have to pay (ie, free).

I'll run it through with you again.

Free = No price on the item.

Stealing = Price on the item is ignored.

Do we understand that? It's nothing to do with how much or how little a person pays, but whether the item is free or with a price.

If it's stealing, it is not a free item. Why? You cannot steal free items.

Fact.

Semantics.

Do DL's have a price on them? Also, it means costing nothing if we're really... REALLY going to argue about a word. 😂

Also, you're stealing from the industry when you DL, but you're DL'ing free comics from random sources. Which means that people are giving out comics for free, but you're still considered to be stealing from the industry... if we want to delve into AC world (which no one should).

If I said it costs nothing, would you still be arguing? Because you arguing about the use of a word is the same as me arguing about you spelling 'generalization' wrong. It's just pointless.

I love stealing free comics btw (even though I'm Canadian, and thus, not stealing at all).

I stole a balloon from a kid who got it for free at a carnival. And then I punched her.

Point: Alvis.

Apparently national boundaries count for nothing. So while it's legal for you, it's still stealing. Using that same logic, that it's stealing because it has a price somewhere, it's also not stealing because there are undoubtedly some store out there in the world where the comic is in fact free of charge.

That was me cry

Personally downloading is my test for the comics I get. On average I download about 6 per week, the ones I enjoy I head to the store and buy, the ones I think are terrible I dont.
