STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Broken

Rianna shall get in the speeder, then.

Vera-Kin will do the same.

"I notice your uniform is not the standard blue, Lieutenant Colonel," Vera-Kin says. "Quite odd to be wearing something so flashy. Is there a reason for this? I'm just curious."

"Good observation, Master Jedi!" Nehmen says. "These are the vintage uniforms, in the style that the Republic used centuries ago. General Hirget has a taste for pomp and circumstance. He made it a requirement for Republic officers on Ord Coridari."

The landspeeder cautiously makes its way through the crowded streets of Ine. Many people watch as you pass.

Rianna says, nothing, sensing about to see if there's any danger from the crowd. She's a bit uncomfortable with everyone watching them.

"How peculiar," Vera-Kin says. "Why would he do such a thing? Seems like it would only serve to confuse people. I for one do not particularly like the decorated uniform you wear, no offense to you, Lieutenant Colonel. It is too lavish."

Vera-Kin keeps her Sense open too, though she is less worried about being attacked in broad daylight in the company of a Republic officer. Still, she does pry for Rand's presence, even knowing that he is likely obscuring himself.

Nothing notable on your senses, ladies. Just that there are a great many people around, which for Rianna would be frustrating to sift through, but for Vera-Kin is not so great an issue.

"I don't question the General's requirements," Nehmen states, matter-of-factly, without taking his eyes off the road. "He's just old-fashioned. I quite like this uniform, but I am not offended. Your robes are simple, normally... or so I've heard. You are the first Jedi I've met, to be honest."

The landspeeder comes out of the crowds into what must be the center of the city. Set further away from the rest of the buildings by a wide encircling road is a tower rising from within a circular, walled courtyard. There is no apparent entrance, and the walls sport quadruple-cannon turbolasers at regular intervals. Armed guards keep regular post atop the wall, protected by energy shields that they can shoot out of.

The entrance turns out to be located in the ground, passing underneath the fortress walls. A great blast door slides back when Lieutenant Colonel Nehmen enters his passcode into a panel near the entrance, and the laser wall behind that deactivates.

"Welcome to Fort Ine!" Nehmen welcomes you as he scoots the landspeeder down into the entry tunnel. He emerges into the stone-paved courtyard, where a series of squat barracks are located. The tower looms ahead of you. "General Hirget is in his commander center. I will take you to him."

It is very quiet around this base, Rianna. You cannot imagine that it would have a large roster for being so far out, regardless of its status as a Regional Depot. Ord Coridari has not seen action since the Sith attacked it.

And Rianna senses nothing funny from the base?

She does not.

Good.

Well, then, she'll follow Nehmen to the general, though once there'll she'd rather leave the speaking to Vera-Kin if possible.

Lt. Col. Nehmen parades you through the barracks on the way to the main entrance to the tower; the soldiers there, all mostly inexperienced young men joining up for glory that they may never see in these times of relative peace, stop what they are doing and gawk at the Jedi walking through their base.

At the door, Nehmen shows his passcard, though it seems more tradition than anything; Vera-Kin can sense that the guards hold Nehmen in high esteem. Stepping into the tower you are met with the sight of a superbly clean but very outdated base- everything has an aged look to it, and the metal floor is worn in where people tend to tread.

"This way, please," Nehmen says, entering a lift. "The General is at the top of the tower."

Rianna will enter the lift after him, looking around at their surroundings.

The lift rises slowly.

"You may have noticed that our base is not exactly modernized," Nehmen says against the silence. "It has been some time since the Senate invested in us. We make due."

"It certainly seems more than well enough, in spite of that," Rianna comments in reply.

"The general upkeep of Fort Ine is not at all too much effort," Nehmen says. "For appearances sake, at least."

"Is there much trouble on Ord Coridari?"

"What do you mean?"

"I don't know much about this planet, and since, as you said, the base isn't exactly modernized, I was simply curious if it's generally peaceful here. I can't imagine why the Senate wouldn't give funds otherwise."

"Precisely," Nehmen says. "We keep our base in top shape and our men in battle-ready condition, but really, Ord Coridari is very quiet."

Rianna nods, not really having anything else to say at the moment.

The lift dings when it arrives on the top floor of the base's tower. Doors slide open to reveal that you are in the back of what almost looks like a ship's bridge, with a walkway down the center and computer banks in the area below them, filled with soldiers operating them, wearing the flashy red uniforms.

One man stands looking out over Ord Coridari from the windows. His uniform is flashy and red like all the others, but he sports a dark gray sash that is lined with medals and pins to outline his achievements. Epaulettes mark the shoulders of the uniform, and he wears a black hackle on his head with a single red feather.

He turns around when you enter, unfolding his hands from his front and clasping them behind his back. He is very old for a military man, but still appears to be in good shape. His hair and wide mustache are white and his face is wearied by age but still stern.

"General Hirget, I present to you the Jedi Knights who have come to Ord Coridari," Lt. Col. Nehmen says, then steps aside.

General Hirget studies you for a moment, measuring his words carefully. "Welcome to Ord Coridari. I trust your journey was safe. Now, can you tell me why you have come? I was not notified that I was to have visitors from the Capital."
