"Ilamik," he says. "Gyev Ilamik. I hope you didn't get too hurt in the park, Master Jedi..."

"I believe I'm intact, thanks," Vera-Kin says. "Ilamik, I need you to tell us what the man who gave you the gun wanted you to do. This... Arneth is a wanted criminal, and if you can help us apprehend him, all the better for you."

"Also, if you have any information on exactly who the man who gave you the blaster is, or why he was trying to use you, that would also be greatly helpful to us," Rianna adds.

"As you say, his name is Arneth. That is all I know of him, though he'd been hanging around the Stain for a few days before he approached me. Seemed to know my plight. I'm, uh..."

He falters and goes quiet.

Vera-Kin will Scan him and see what she can get from Ilamik's emotions.

"Your plight, Ilamik?" Vera prompts him.

😛 you posted same time I did.

As Vera-Kin beat Rianna to what she was going to ask, she has nothing to add at this moment.

"Same plight as most miners, I guess," Ilamik says. "But I was pretty down on my luck before they took our pay away. Can't support my kids. But, Arneth... he... handed me a hundred creds. Said he could give me more."

Reluctance. And... conflict. He wants to help but he is afraid.

Your Presence is having an effect, Vera, and you are rolling well with Persuade.

"I sense how reluctant you are to talk of this," Vera-Kin says. "I want to address that first. What are you afraid of?"

Ilamik wrings his hands and says nothing at first.

"He..." Ilamik starts to say, trying to force the words, "he told me... I can't... I can't tell you!"

You sense something about his mind, Vera. It has been tampered with. Altered... in the same way that a Mind Trick would.

Does Rianna sense that as well?

If not, Vera-Kin will fill her in by saying: "He's been Mind Tricked," Vera-Kin says. "Do you remember what the man said? A certain gesture he made?"

"I... I don't know..." Ilamick says. "I can't... he said I can't... leave me alone!"

Ilamick tries to get up but he is handcuffed still and ends up knocking over the table and himself, sending the blaster and lightsaber clattering onto the floor

Rianna will quickly call the lightsaber and blaster to her, just in case, and hands them to Vera-Kin, before helping him up.

"Calm down. We can help you, but you need to tell us as much as you can. Any little bit you can remember will be helpful to us," Rianna says.

"I can't talk to you about it!" he says, pulling away from you.

Vera-Kin will let Rianna hold the weapons for the time being, so that she can try settling Ilamik.

If Vera-Kin Mind Tricked him into ignoring the other Mind Trick, would he be more cooperative? Or would his mind just explode?

Rianna will take a step back from him, then.

"I admit, I'm not entirely sure how to deal with this," she says to Vera-Kin.

You run the risk of making Ilamik mentally unstable, at which point he is useless to you and anyone else.

That sounds morally questionable... but Arneth does not strike me as being some sort of remarkable Force wizard, more the fighting and violent type if he is pulling out blasters in the middle of a park. But then he manipulated someone....

Vera-Kin will run it by Rianna, asking what she thinks should be done.

"I know it is not something you are knowledgeable in," Vera-Kin says. "I am more asking if I should go for it or not. I could possibly put Ilamik at ease and repair his mind... but I could render him a madman."

"I don't know...do you think there's a good chance of it working?"

While using the Force to right the table and chair, Vera-Kin answers.

"If Arneth did the Mind Trick, then it is possible that my power is beyond his," Vera-Kin says. "But if Rand did it... I'm not sure."

Vera-Kin will ask Ilamick if he was approached by any others similar to Arneth.
