STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Broken

Rianna shakes her head as he vanishes, rather confused and uncomfortable about that entire meeting, before entering the building and asking to see Hirget.

Sensing everything around her just in case, as always 😛

"I really must insist that you tell me what you mean to report," Vera-Kin asks, unsure why she is pushing the issue. She feels like the reporter being there may have been more than coincidence since he is so smug with what he is writing.

Lots of people in business attire walking in and out of the glass building, but that seems to be all.

"I don't have to share anything with you," the journalist states. "It's the law. Read it tomorrow."

Good, nothing dangerous, apparently.

Rianna will ask to see Hirget, then.

The receptionist pages the General. After receiving confirmation, she sends you into his office.

The General's office is as regal as he has allowed it to be with quality furniture, but much of it is very spartan and kept clean. The General is signing papers on his desk.

"You wanted to see me?" he asks, without looking up.

"Yes, I did. I want to look into the records, see if there was a list of previous offenders that we could use as a starting point to find who these dissenters and troublemakers among the miners are, as well as look a bit more into Astrune's background, and I was told I would need clearance from you to do so," Rianna replies.

The General puts down his pen.

"You do indeed," Hirget says. "A smart way to start your investigation into the dissenting miners."

He presses some buttons on his desk, then pulls a disc out and holds it out to you.

"Criminal records pertaining to registered miners," Hirget says, "and all miners must be registered to work."

"Thank you, this should give a good idea as to where to start with this investigation," Rianna says, pocketing the disc. "And I am curious about finding more about Astrune, as she was the first to pull payments from the miners. Surely there's some reason why she would do so right away."

Something is not right with the journalist being there and I don't know why he would show up. We will just have to look for the front page shot of Vera-Kin kicking ass.

Vera-Kin is going to go back into the park and look for the Dark Jedi, lightsaber in hand.

"Astrune has never been one for charity. If the miners want greater pay for their life-shortening labor, it is not something she will settle for. What do you wish to know about her? I can supply her judicial file but I am afraid it is rather dry."

-

No sign of your attacker, Vera-Kin. He has fled.

"If you could, I would like to see it. And mostly I want to know more about her background and what sort of person she is. How and when her family made their fortune. What sort of influences she has. Where she learned to fight like that," Rianna replies, adding the last one somewhat reluctantly.

"Most of that is very simple. As she is a prevalent figure in my society, she is someone I have done much research on.

"Their titles can be traced back to a Corellian named Sir Vaako Astrune, who was knighted honorarily by the Jedi Order for his contribution to their martial training. Theirs is the only title of any weight on Ord Coridari, though only very, very tenuously. Once he came here, after the New Sith Wars, he founded the Astrune Mining Corporation. It continuously struck rich diamond veins in the Great Rift, and proceeded to surpass the other corporations in wealth. By the time the Box was found by Sir Ylydan Astrune, the Dame's grandfather, their wealth was still immense but not growing as exponentially. The Rift has been overmined, especially by them.

"Her influences are quite numerous, as the Astrunes have been the longest lasting family of note on Ord Coridari. Others leave when their mining efforts go under or are bought. The Astrunes have endured, and their interests have left simply mining. Dame Astrune currently owns the Coridarian Tribune and the entire quarter of Ine named for her heritage."

Vera-Kin already knows where her fighting talent comes from- it can be assumed that she shared it with Rianna, but to summarize, Vaako Astrune developed the particularly violent martial practice that the Dame unleashed on Rianna. He gathered disciples to learn his art and also taught his kin, which became tradition.

"So I can certainly see why if she decided to do something, others would follow, and why she and the other nobles here would be doing anything they can to keep up their profits..."

"Indeed," General Hirget says, before producing another disc with Dame Astrune's file. "Might I ask you a favor, Rianna?"

"Thank you," Rianna says, slipping the disc into her pocket along with the first. "And of course."

"Try to keep your mission as quiet as possible," Hirget says. "With the threat of rioting, knowledge of the presence of these criminals you are tracking could cause hysteria."

"We had already decided to do this as quietly as possible, but yes, I will certainly do my best to keep it that way," Rianna replies.

Hirget nods, then resumes his paperwork.

Where to now, Rianna?

Hmmm, back to the Fort, I suppose, since we've sort of adopted it as a base of operations, to look through the contents of the discs and begin figuring out where to start on this investigation.

Vera-Kin is going to do the same. I want to get this miner back to the Fort before anything bad happens to him! And there does not seem to be much else to do here...
