STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Broken

Started by REXXXX75 pages

The journalist points someone out in the crowd gathering around you. It is the one who was threatening to call the police.

"Why did you order no retractions of the story?" Vera asks.

Barker notices that you are no longer addressing the journalist and turns his Wookiee rage toward the chief editor.

"I- I was instructed not to," she splutters.

"I've reason to believe that the ship docked here belonged to a group of criminals we were sent here to apprehend. They opened fire on us when we came to check it out," Rianna replies.

Does she have any injuries or anything?

Minor burns.

That's not too bad.

Just waiting on Vera then, I think.

"By who?" Vera-Kin demands to know.

"Our owner," she says.

"And who is that?" Vera-Kin asks.

Once she gets that answer, she is going to take her leave before any more trouble is caused, and rendezvous with Rianna.

You already know who THAT is...

With night falling, your second day on Ord Coridari is coming to a close. You have tried to get a grip on the situation with the miners, but things are slipping beyond your control. With Rand's instigations and Astrune's political maneuvering, the miners are restless. Rianna found where the Dark Jedi were operating out of and then lost them. Vera-Kin discovered that Astrune authorized that falsified story in the paper. There may have been some truth to what Astrune said- trying to help the political situation on Ord Coridari is only wearing you down.

General Hirget keeps his steady attitude, but underneath you can both sense his mounting worry.

"Never has there been an attempt at revolt on Ord Coridari," the General says. "At least not under my watch. And I intend to keep it that way. The miners are holding a rally tomorrow, in the streets outside their pub. I am going to send armed soldiers in riot gear to prevent anything from getting out of hand. Can you accompany them?"

"I can't promise we'll be of any help with that..." Rianna says, frustrated at how badly this mission is going. "There's a good chance that our presence could make things worse."

"What if your criminals are there?" Hirget asks.

"There is that possibility...but even if they were, I don't think more than just one of them would be there. And right now, they have the miners on their side..." Rianna replies.

"Could we not be there without making ourselves apparent?" Vera-Kin asks General Hirget. "Rianna and myself are awfully talented at the art of intrusion. We can step in if the miners start acting unruly... and if our quarry are there, then no doubt they will. Don't you think so, Rianna? This is their chance at a distraction!"

"That may be a good idea. Go with the soldiers, but remain hidden unless we're needed, or unless Rand or his apprentices show himself," Rianna says, agreeing.

Hirget considers this.

"If you must," he decides. "I am not going myself; my soldiers will need coordination if this becomes more than a riot in the streets and evolves into a planet-wide problem. Lieutenant Colonel Nehmen will be leading men to the rally."

Can we meet up with Nehmen and see what plans he has?

Actually, Vera-Kin is going to check her own reasoning here.

"If this is meant to be the distraction for the Dark Jedi," Vera-Kin says, "why should we be AT the distraction? Should we not be where we think they will be striking?"

She refers to Astrune's place, since she still has the Box.

Fair point, Vera-Kin. You will only have time to be in one place or another on this one.

Hirget is also asking that Colby and Barker stay uninvolved due to their unofficial nature, especially after what happened to Colby. Barker is much more resilient, but word is getting around about what happened to those desks at the office...

Probably best to have Colby and Barker stay at the ship. Rianna isn't exactly pleased with herself for leading Colby into trouble, either.

And do you suggest that maybe we split up?
