STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Broken

...what.

Is it anywhere in the room?

You do not see it.

Ohhhh, Rianna is not happy about that...she's betting that Rand took it when he took the Box.

"So just how long have you been living on Rand's pocket, Astrune?" Rianna says, not even sure if Astrune can hear her (or where she is), but she's quite frustrated right now.

Does she sense anything?

No way to tell for sure.

"Those with mutual interests tend to find it beneficial to work together," Astrune says. "Don't you agree?"

"And so you'll work with a madman who will happily murder half a planet with nothing more than a second thought," Rianna replies. "Do you think he cares for your interests at all?"

"No," Astrune says, "I am not so delusional as to think that someone with aspirations such as his would care about my aims. It just so happened that they complimented each other. He wanted something I had... he had talents I could use to get rid of someone that stood in my way... it worked."

"You are just as disgusting as he is..." Rianna snaps. "And too cowardly to do your own dirty work."

With that done, Vera-Kin deactivates her lightsaber but does not put it away.

"We push on," Vera-Kin says to her allies. "Astrune must be apprehended. Quickly, to her throne room! We mustn't waste time, especially as I need to disable the ionic device in that doorway or bypass it somehow..."

"This way I am not to blame for the death of the late General," Astrune says. "At least, not once I have bested you. This is dirty work I can handle."

Vera-Kin and friends link up with Rianna at that point. It is very apparent to Vera-Kin that the Box is missing; the podium on which it stood is vacant. Rianna is more distracted by the lack of a lightsaber.

Ideas for bypassing the mechanism that disables your weapons is welcome.

I was thinking of either making a Fix-It roll to see if there is a way to shut it down. Examine it. Rianna can keep watch while Vera-Kin does that.

Or someone can shoot it.

"We made fast work of your guards, don't think it's going to be so easy..."

If Vera-Kin can't find any way to just turn it off, then yeah, shooting/sabering it would probably get the job done. Just need to make sure that it doesn't wreck our weapons in the process.

"You should not underestimate my own worth, girl. You have fought me before. Do you really think that having your lightsaber will improve your chances?"

You approach that doorway, then. Vera cannot get a proper examination of the apparatus as it is set into the wall. Pausing to look at the vents that direct the charge reveals that it is set and ready to go off when you pass through.

"Should I blast it?" Colby asks.

"And do you think your cheap tricks are going to help you this time?"

"Hmm," Vera-Kin says. Keeping her lightsaber at a safe distance, she waves her hand through the doorway to see if she feels anything. When that static sensation prickles against her skin, she withdraws and looks at the dispersion vents. "The device is set into the wall, so logic tells me that if you destroy the wall, you destroy the apparatus..."

She walks over to one side of the door, trying to picture the device inside of the wall.

"Blast out the wall, Colby," Vera-Kin says, stepping back. "There on the right side of the door. I want to see what is underneath."

"Such are my ways, Rianna. Of course they will."

Colby points his heavy blasters at the wall and starts blazing into it, the lasers shredding through stone and sending fragments of it kicking into the air and scattering around you. Within moments, the wiring of the device and the device itself is exposed, and Colby stops.

"Should I keep going?" Colby asks.

"Hold," Vera-Kin says, before taking a look at the exposed device. She wants to see if she can spot any vital components that may be on the other side, so that she can destroy them with her lightsaber through the wall.

"Blast above the door, too," Vera-Kin says.

Are the vents on the bottom of the door?

"Should just destroy it entirely..." Rianna says quietly, deciding to not respond to Astrune again.

"I just want to be sure we actually destroy it," Vera-Kin says. "Could be that we miss vital parts."

Vera-Kin ignites her lightsaber again whilst examining the device.

Exposing the device has also mildly damaged it seeing as it is hard to be precise with a pair of heavy blaster pistols that start taking chunks out of the wall around the doorway. As Colby clears away stone from around the machine, you can see where the vital portions of the mechanism are located. Rubbing your lightsaber around in them makes short work of it all and leaves the wall itself a molten mess of circuitry and wall.

The way onward is clear!
