Fair=Even playing field. Isn't that what the MVF is for? To match two opponents on an even playing field?
Some things need to be addressed here. First, a few statements/questions about the thread itself:
1. Why does Harry have his wand? Did he reacquire it after being captured? Remember, when Luke was captured, they took away his lightsaber.
2. Obviously Palpatine knows all about Harry's powers. It's not like he would try and recruit some random dude off the street.
3. Since Palpatine knows about Harry and his powers, Harry should know all about Palpatine and Palpatine's powers. Even playing field and all.
4. Now, since Harry knows that Palpatine will kill him via force lightning, surely he will be as prepared as he can be for it, yes?
Now, having gotten that out of the way, let me clear some things up:
1. I believe that a Protego shield charm will fully deflect force lightning.
2. Can Harry raise the Protego shield before Palpatine's force lightning reaches him? IMO yes. Look here, at 3:45

Harry cast Protego on Snape, causing Snape's spell to rebound back on Snape. They are 10ish feet from each other, Harry raises his wand, says "Protego", and Snape is spelled. At 3:45, Harry is tossed into the chair by Snape. At 3:46, Harry draws his wand, utters "Protego", and before the timer reaches 3:47, Snape's "Legilimens" spell is turned back on him. It took less than a second for Harry to draw his wand, cast the spell, and have it hit Snape. Harry was caught off guard and reacted on instinct. Now, since Harry knows what's going to happen to him, it's only natural that he will be that much more prepared to defend himself. Think about it....
Palpatine: "Come to the dark side, Harry."
Harry, AFTER casting Protego: " Kiss my ass."
Shield charm already in place, the force lightning can't touch Harry. Hell, for all we know it could even rebound back on Palpatine. This counts on Harry NOT having the shield charm already in place before he even faces Palpatine, which would be the smart thing to do.
Now, having cleared that up, let me add this:
1. Harry, knowing where he is being taken, knowing that Palpatine will try to turn him, and upon Harry's refusal, will kill Harry via force lightning, will surely have a shield charm in effect beforehand.
2. Harry, again, captured and knowing where he will be taken and what will happen, will have a certain time frame between A; Being captured, and B; Being presented before Palpatine.
OK.....Let's say the time frame is ten minutes, five minutes, whatever. Harry will have that much time to Accio anything he wishes and escape his captors. What can he possible Accio to aid in his escape?
Peruvian instant darkness powder. Causes instant darkness. Given to him by the Weasley twins, he can use this to escape his captors.
Or, when Palpy tries to turn him, he can use it to darken the room, disorient Palpatine, then Harry can escape, or more likely cast any spell he wishes on Palpy. His captors will never know what happened. Harry can mutter it under his breath, they'll be like "Huh?" Harry remains silent, waits for the darkness powder, then BOOM, darkens the room, then escapes. Yes, this is entirely feasible.
It's stupid to think Palpatine will go right to the force lightning. He'll do the same as with Luke, attempt to sway Harry. In the middle of his little speech, "Protego!", shield charm goes up, Harry is protected. It would take maybe half a second. And if Palpatine senses this, and decides to force lightning Harry, it'll be too late, his force lightning will be bouncing off the shield charm, or maybe even back at him.
Yes, I know, I am "gimping" here, oh woe to KMC and the MVF for having to put up with me quoting Harry's powers he displayed onscreen. What was I thinking? 🙄 Dunno whay I'm even bothering. Harry is just "A boy with a twig" 🙄 Gotta love that Harry Potter hate.
