Well I wouldn't say him dying proves he's a push over lol. Even the best and the strongest can get killed. But he is nothing special. He just gets drafted into the army, but quickly gets arrested in bevelle when he tries to activate vegnagun. Now how he got into the area Vegnagun is a mystery.
I would like to believe he was badass and just busted into the place killing everybody, but there is nothing that hints to that and he gets taken down by a few soldiers so I doubt he fought his way in. He probably just snuck in mostly undetected. But yeah, he's nothing special from what is known so I don't see how that helps Tidus out
Shuyin is actually a pretty tragic character. Probably the only character I actually cared about in X-2. You should finish it if you ever have the chance.
if you can get past the more cheesy childish story, its a pretty good game with awesome gameplay. I guess the story never bothered me.I enjoyed Revenant wings story and FFV is my favorite FF(aside from 8), so I guess more silly stories don't bother me
Glad to hear someone else who likes it. I got it as a gift thinking it'll be lame. I never did like Vaan. Didn't really hate him, but he was just kinda meh. Revenant wings made him a much likeable guy imo. He doesn't act all cool like he does in tactics advance 2 but you get to know him better as a character finally.
I just finally got the secret ending of the game. Not going to spoil it for ya of course
Yeah, I don't dislike Final Fantasy XII either, is a good game, in my opinion. I agree there, Revenants Wings shows Vaan by another perspective, in other words, as a leader. I must admit he's doing good.
Just notice other thing... Kytes. Kytes passed in being a nobody-normal human and in one year he grew impressively stronger, he has become a Black Mage, imagine Vaan.
Yeah... That was random, lol.
But... That shows how quick they grows stronger.
If you look at Final Fantasy XII's sound-track and search for the song that plays during the first scene while Vaan is killing those giant rats, notice the name of the song.
"Secret Practice"
That make sense.
Well... He says he's ready for anything (among his lines). Besides, we don't know if he also wandered in the Desert too. He goes through the Desert like nothing to kill his first Mark, I suppose he encountered monsters while the process, if he kills many giant rats like nothing, it is very likely he would kill two Wolves like nothing. What do you think?
Well those Dalmasca deserts have more than just wolves. The area you find Penelo in on the sun stone mission, has like these giant bird looking monsters the size of a humans and other big monsters. And he didn't really seem like a stranger to that part of the desert so he's obviously been there before.
I dunno, I just found it strange he'd practice fighting something so small as rats to prepare for stuff way bigger. Eh I guess any kind of practice helped in his case.
It depends the area, you know. The area where Vaan was killing Rogue Tomato was full of Wolves, Cactuars and even a Tyrannosaurus. (Well he can't take that thing, but he can easily beat the Wolves and Cactuars).
Actually, it is no stranger at all, he can take multiple giant rats just by himself, that's a good training for me, why he wouldn't take 2 or 3 Wolves as well?

Well, at least you conceded about the "Shuyin" argument as far as I know since you didn't replied to it, that's good.
I'm not sure Tidus is Shuyin's dream. I mean, what about Yuna and... uh... that other girl.... what's her face. Yuna isn't a dream.
I still say Tidus would win, though. Vaan fighting off rats shows very little. If I recall, they were the weakest enemy in the game. They were just big rats. Those sin needle insects that Tidus fought off in the beginning of the game where more threatening than big rats. And again, we don't know what Vaan can do, because he can't really do anything. The fact that he starts with a sword means nothing. In the end, his true skills are completely left up to the player. He's pretty much a blank slate.
