STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Chains

Yes.

But you will not take that action if you sense danger?

Well, more if my Danger sense flares up. If it's just a 'risky' sense then I'll push on.

It may be a risk you'll have to take. The pirates don't seem to be making any move. It's a stand off.

Alright, I'll take the risk. I know it's probably off heavy weapons to throw the grenades. But I'd rather not have the mooks do it. 😛

Wentar charges bravely ahead! And Vlad follows, staying close.

Throwing grenades requires Heavy Weapons, so you are doing it solely off of your Dexterity and only gaining successes on 6s. But I usually give a +3 bonus for Push/Pull, so Wentar is rolling seven dice here.

Sadly, he totally fluffs his roll, showing no successes. And without any targets in the immediate area, Vlad holds his fire until he has a clear shot.

But they have a clear shot at you! Once you close in, four Taskmasters emerge from the lifts, guns blazing in your direction. There is a solid ping! as the first opens directly into Wentar's shield and a flash as it rebounds back into his armor. Wentar struggles to defend against the second, narrowly deflecting the second with a one-handed flourish.

Vlad stays behind you, and everything misses him.

Oh dear.... Lets see.

We get initiative tap Block and attack Taskmaster A.

They get initiative Tap Focused guard, focusing on Taskmaster A.

"Vlad, take the one on the right," Wentar grunts, as he deflects a blaster bolt, pointing at Task Master B.

Wentar strikes first! Seven successes on his Block tap, Wentar brings his lightsaber across the Taskmaster's armor, driving him to the left and dealing 13 damage. Vlad ignores your instruction and comes around from the left, dropping his rifle and impaling the Taskmaster on both of his lightsabers.

"Don't tell me how to fight," Vlad snarls.

Shooting into the melee is very risky, so the pirates hold their fire. At Loj'oon's behest, though, he and his Guards open fire at the Taskmasters. Their armor holds up against repeated blasts from the Guards.

Vlad catches some friendly fire from the Guards.

Srum troopers start to dispense from the lifts while the Taskmasters keep firing on the Jedi. The two of you fair well but take some damage.

And then Nelgrin emerges from of the lifts, barely squeezing through the shattered doorframe.

Is Nelgrin wielding a gun or a melee weapon?

He is lugging around that over-sized hammer of his.

(Bah! Sorry I've left this so long.)

Swap Block for Reflection.

They get initiative -

"Pull back!" Wentar orders Vlad when he sees Nelgrin approach. Defensive Leap back to the Corridor.

We get initiative -

Tap Focused Guard, targeting Nelgrin, and Bodyguard. Attack Task Master C.

1-5 says initiative is theirs!

Nelgrin comes in swinging, going directly for Vlad. But Vlad is ready for him, leaping up and kicking off of the giant Herglic chest with a Perfect Strike tap. When he lands, he lands near you, so your Bodyguard can apply! Running a Defense of 6, Armor of 2, and a Parry of 2 (Focused Guard and Defensive Leap), Vlad laughs as Nelgrin's swing goes wide and simply takes out a pair of his own pirate thugs. They more or less splatter against the wall.

The Taskmasters and their underlings turn their attention on Loj'oon, since shooting into the melee is dangerous. Loj'oon ducks and strafes incoming blasts but takes some damage. A pair of Guards are picked off, yelping as bolts strike them.

Vlad and Wentar disengage, Wentar flipping backward through the air while Vlad performs a wall-run to get back to Loj'oon's position.

With the Jedi out of the way, everyone in the Corridor can open fire! But it is getting crowded; the pirates cannot shoot through.

Loj'oon's pistols ping off of Nelgrin's armor, and the Guards continue to shoot at the Taskmasters that threaten their ward.

Okay! Tapping Bodyguard and Focused Guard, focusing on Nelgrin.

We get initiative, hold here.

They get initiative, attack Nelgrin, move up if I have to.

Evens leaves initiative in your hands, and it is a Refresh! Bad timing for Wentar...

Vlad uses the moment to pull his rifle back to him with the Force.

Loj'oon actually orders his men to pull back! He taps Both Guns Blazing and finishes off a Taskmaster, and the probe takes down a second one. The Guards concentrate on the pirates dispensing from the lifts.

Nelgrin charges after the Jedi! But the swing of his hammer is intercepted deftly by Wentar's lightsaber, throwing off Nelgrin's momentum and interrupting his attack (since he tapped Focused Guard). Rather inconclusive, that.

The pirates reinforce and fire past the melee skirmish into the corridor. Some of Loj'oon's Guard falls.

Bodyguard went untapped- only Vlad needed protecting.

Swap Focused Guard for Orthodox Guard, Tap Reflection, attack Nelgrin and hope for the best at this point I think.

The Srum aren't really shooting at you since you're in melee range of Nelgrin- they would have to risk shooting their leader. It is up to you whether or not that is good or bad!

2-3 means the Srum go first... but Vlad taps Charge and acts before them! He ducks past Nelgrin and barges into a pair of pirates with his lightsabers.

Nelgrin takes a swing at you before you can do much to him. He pulls back his hammer and, instead of trying to strike you with it, he smashes it into the wall. Four 6s means you are Stunned by his Focused Blow, as the shockwave that emanates from the hammer throws you off balance, and you take 8 damage.

Vlad becomes the primary target of the Srum as he is jumping at them, and he frantically defends himself in the brief moment that he is surrounded.

But with the corridor no longer crowded, your freedom fighters are able to shoot around the brawl and into the mass of pirates that is slowly streaming out of the lifts. In fact, Nelgrin finds himself rather without many pirates backing him up at all...

Stunned and fighting a foe with a decent Defense, Wentar finds himself only rolling two dice. Oops! One success is still enough to deal 7 damage, your lightsaber sparking against his blast armor vest.

"I WILL DESTROY YOU ALL!" Nelgrin roars in your face. This guy is not all there...

Clearly.

"Vlad! Help me!" Wentar calls out as he fends off Nelgrin's attacks.

Swap Reflection for Block.

We get initiative, Combat push Nelgrin and tap block.

They get initiative, Defensive leap.

5-2, initiative to you.

Wentar blunts Nelgrin's charge by shoving him with the Force. Four successes is not at all bad, and total Wentar rolls sixteen dice in his attack on Nelgrin. The Jedi on form and runs his lightsaber directly into Nelgrin's stomach with thirteen successes, for 19 damage. Needless to say that Nelgrin is NOT happy about that!

The freedom fighters commit overkill on the pirates around Vlad, leaving him free to act. But instead of coming to help you, he ducks into one of the lifts with his rifle and starts firing into it.

Loj'oon and his Guards fire on Nelgrin, but his armor vest and naturally toughened skin resists any heavy damage there.

However, Nelgrin fully intends to cause as much damage as possible. He strides past you, giving you the opportunity to strike him again, gashing his side for another 11 damage. He sets upon Loj'oon and the fighters around him with a tap of Assault and Power Attack.

Nelgrin lifts his hammer high into the air and, with a tremendous cry, brings it down on Loj'oon. Loj'oon is knocked to the floor by the impact, taking 15 damage directly. Then, having rolled ten successes, you watch in horror as eight of the pirates are flung about and smashed into walls and killed by the kinetic wave that springs out around the hammer.

Nelgrin is alone, but Nelgrin is vicious.

Hmmm, is it possible to make a leadership roll to get Vlad to listen to me?

Vlad is acting alarmingly aggressive, but yes.
