USH'S STAR WARS GAME- CAMPAIGN II EPISODE V (LIGHT SIDE)- Harmony

You guys are heading into a cave network. The cave network is artificial- bored into the rock. But you see no evidence of any technology.

"You could try asking them yourself," says Ascar. "You will find that won't understand you though, even if you can learn their language. They will not understand what you mean by questions about the past, in the way you will frame them."

"No doubt their history has slipped into the realms of the myth and legend," Jelena says. "These tunnels could have been mines, for example, but they may just view them as a gift from whatever entity they worship."

I think Ascar has made the point that he's not going to answer a single question we ask but rather say something to agitate us.

"No," says Ascar, "The Atrii carved all of these tunnels themselves. By hand.

"And that is not what I meant. The reason they would not understand is that the Atrii have no real concept of time."

You are being led now into a grand central chamber, as large as a sizeable house, where many dozens of Atrii are gathered around, either on the ground or higher up upon stone galleries.

"THere must have been a great many Atrii to do al of this. Or it took them dozens or hundreds of years. Or both." Andro marvelled.

All you can see, Andro, is tunnel after tunnel leading off in all directions- and when you look down one, you see more branches leading off.

You are right- by hand, this must have taken many, many years. Centuries might not cover it.

"They expand it still," says Ascar. "The task never ends. And that it takes a long time doesn't really occur to them."

-

Incidentally, for those of you not big on Latin pronunciations, that is At-TREE-i.

Are their sculptures in their stoneways or anything else that indicates culture (besides their tunnels that is)?

No. Actually, no signs of any such thing at all. That is odd.

How about furniture?

Very basic things of wood.

"So their culture doesn't see time as linear? Or do they even have a concept or 'word' for time?"

"They understand one thing happens after another, but they have never formalised that into a system of measurement. They won't understand what you mean by asking about what happened a long time ago.

"They will never change from their current state."

Soon, enough, everything settles down. The Atrii chief and his entourage take up station in one half of the floor of the cavern, leaving you guys to occupy the other. And then... silence.

"You had best say your piece," says Ascar. "I'll translate."

"What are we supposed to say?" Xeth asks, annoyed. "YOU brought us here, we don't even know why we've come to see the Atrii!"

"You really are a very impatient individual, Xeth. It will not get you far. Why don't you try learning?"

Be back on Friday. Denzral stays with the group seeing nothing in particular that he is needed for.

Wentar scratches his head, looking around at the other Jedi, then shrugs. "I guess we should start by saying hello?" He says, a little uncertainly. "Maybe thank them for accepting us into their home?"

"Or ask them if they've seen Kara Katai or anyone like her. That's what we're after, right? Ascar, any chance these people know how to walk on walls?"

"Remember, Andro, we are here to learn," Jelena says pointedly. "Ascar, translate everything I say exactly as I say it. I don't like that I don't speak their tongue..."

Jelena will go forward, if no-one else will. She holds out her hands in a gesture that she hopes shows her gratitude and friendliness toward the Atrii.

"Hello, Atrii. We thank you for welcoming us into your home, for we know nothing of your world. We are Jedi Knights from the world of Coruscant."

She will start off with that, very simply, to see if declaring what they are gets any reaction. She will continue once she gets their reaction.

Well, Ascar translates you saying hello- but the leader just stares at you, blankly.

"Why don't you talk a little about who you are and why you are here?" says Ascar.
