Jelena goes on. She is careful to avoid referring to things as historical or ancient, for it may be lost on the Atrii.

"We have come to your world because we have a problem. Where we come from, there is an evil assassin that is destroying important places of value so that she can steal priceless objects from within without a trace. She has exhibited strange abilities that are beyond our knowledge of the Force, which we ourselves can use..."

Jelena will nod to someone, probably Gallagher, to use his talents to lift something impressive.

"Our friend Ascar, whom you know, says that you may have answers that can help us."

Hmm. Anything I could use the Force to lift that'd look super awesome and impressive, Ush? It will probably just end up being wooden furniture or a cluster of stones. I have a feeling that we're not going to impress them much, though.

Yeah. I mean, Ascar has been here at the very least. I'm sure he's showed them what he can do. Even so, nice to give an example.

Are you giving an example?

Yes. Gallagher is tempted to lift Jelena herself, but that might get confusing if we start talking about Kara. He will lift some stones and twirl them about.

Well, that certainly scares them! They point and make jibber-jabbering noises.

Ascar gives a small smile.

"Not necessary," he says. Any one of your sidearms would impress them just as much.

-

He translates what Jelena says (so you hope- though Jelena's ear for language means she is pretty sure he is doing just that). The leader says something short in reply, and continues to look at you, passively.

"Hmm," says Ascar. "I think the problem is that they do not like to give information to outsiders."

Jelena continues.

"We respect that your people have traditions and ways that they keep to themselves, but we believe that if you help us, we may better understand our villain and stop the harm and ruin she is creating in her wake."

"No, it's not going to work," says Ascar. "I am afraid they don't really see it as their problem. Selfish in a way, but it is all they know- this never-changing existence. The rest of the Galaxy, with its own problems, is a very vague idea to them.

"I think they will help you... if they didn't see you as an outsider."

Great, A sort of induction ritual... "Go fetch the sacred stick from the heart of the cave of doom..."

"I'm guessing that this is something you have already done," Jelena says to Ascar, hands on her hips. "Tell them that we wish to become part of their tribe and prove ourselves worthy, and tell us what they tell us to do."

Ascar translates that...

... and there is a roaring cry of approval from the gathered tribespeople!

"Well, that's a good sign, I hope."

Jelena will Scan the leader, to see how he feels about the suggestion.

"What did they say?" Jelena asks Ascar. She can't help but smile.

Nothing unexpected.

-

"They are overjoyed!" says Ascar. "New people into the tribe always makes them happy. Though of course, you will have to earn your place."

Here comes the 'kill-the-rancor trial'...

Or the 'spend the night in a haunted <location>' trials. To the cities! *Batman screen wipe.*

"How would we go about earning out place in the tribe?" Wentar asks.

(I bet it's more psychological. I mean, whatever feats of strenght they can do, we can probably do better. Unless they are extrodinalry people, that is. Look at Ascar, he's a thinker, not a fighter and he's apparently in. We might need more brains than brawn to get accepted.)

The tribespeople are now on their feet, and bustling with activity.

A large wheel is being dragged in.

"That is something for fate to decide," says Ascar. "There is a great number of different means of initiation."

(Ha! All the guesses were wrong, the answer was 'all of the above'. Very cool; has anyone ever said in on of these games that 'they saw that coming?' I don't think so.)

"Ascar, will we be tested together, or do each of us prove ourselves individually?" Andro assumes that it's individual, but wanted to ask anyway. Hopefully, Argo is up to whatever challenge is in store for him if that is to be the case.

"Oh, it will be together," he says.
