Alright, I've got an open word doc at home where I am going over some better explanations of this, but as a taste:

Themes and Unused characters!!!!

both will be semi-mandatory, and there will be prizes for those who choose and follow the best theme and those who use the most underused and rare characters!

blam!

Prizes? 😕

You give me money, I'll do this for sure w00t

depending on the format, it would be akin to a bye in the first round

Now, when you say "themes", do you mean like your team is something which shares a common connection? Similar to HeroClix (if anyone has ever played that game, anyway) in where you get a bonus if your force of characters share a common keyword such as "soldier, warrior, martial artist, mystic, etc" or a unique keyword such as "Avengers, JLA, Gotham City, Secret Society of Supervillians"?

That could be neat depending on prizes/advantages they might get. A bi could be cool; maybe something like extra prep time for theme teams if prep is allowed?

it would be very similar to clix. a bye is just the first thing that pops to mind, as it is a good enough incentive to get people to participate in the theme without restricting them to a huge degree. I would be considerably lenient on what qualifies as a theme, just people who use that lenience will not get any sort of advantage.

but ya, nothing is in stone, and prep time might work, though might be almost too much, especially as I was thinking only 1 winner in both theme and unused categories. but hey, that's why I posted, for the feedback

Heh. Prizes. For the record, if anyone's doing them, I thought of it first. It involved me shipping a movie box to the winner on my own dime, and never happened, but would've been epic.

😊

i'd do that same thing in mine, but black mercy plants don't exist unfortunately

that would have been epic x2

pfft, I aint spending money on you people

It's still on the list of things I'd actually do if I ever have the time to come out of hosting retirement. It's not a totally dead idea, just mostly.

dgrin

Also, would this be single person entry or tag team?

Word of advice... there was shortage of people last tourney and that was singles. I think tag teams would be hard to fill.

I'm new here and I'm just wondering how you guys do the fights?

heh. win.

Like to see a JLA vs. Avengers tourny someday. A tourny where members can represent heroes on both teams. So, in a sense it would be a 5 or 6 on 5 or 6 vs tourny.

If you host I co-host. I'm around here most of my free time anyways ermm

Howzitbout this:

JLA vs. Avengers Tourney:

-Each participant drafts the following picks: One (1) Street Level to Mid-Meta, One (1) High Meta/Low Herald, One (1) Mid-Herald, One (1) High Herald

-All picks must have been recognized as official members of either the Justice League or Avengers. This includes the mainstream incarnations as well as spin-off teams such as Justice League International, Justice League Europe, West Coast Avengers, Secret Avengers, etc.

-Upon officially entering the tournament, prior to the drafting, you must pick "JLA" or "Avengers" to be placed in the appropriate bracket. If one side is unbalanced (ie. six people have signed up for the Avengers, three for the JLA, future entries for the tournament must sign up for the JLA to even things out.)

-More details when I actually sit down and think them out. <_<

I think hosting it is not the problem..Having about 10-12 posters to compete is a bit more difficult.

You have my blessings if you want to host this thing.

Well, I could participate too, simply by the fact that I have lots of scans and I'm around here often. I think PG can play too, but not many tourney-goers have been active as of late.

Not entirely sure I want to host just yet. I was just throwing around some ideas for the tourney.
