Whoa, took a while to find it but hear it is:

There's one episode of the TV series where they mention that Diglett can retract its head underground at 186,000 mph

though later someone mentions that: 'The speed of light is roughly 300.000 kilometer, or 187500 miles per SECOND, not hour.'

And the pokedex was written by Prof Oak, so it can't be fact becuase Oak isn't omniscient and doesn't know everything. Plus not all pokemon are the same, trying to give every pokemon teh same feats is falicous becuase they don't all have the same attributes.

I never said it was. I asked it. 😛

Yeah, so not close to light speed. 😛

Professor Oak didn't write the Pokedex. 😐

He created it, but wrote? Nah.

Well who did write it, God? Becuase other than an omniscient being its a subjective opinion in written form.

And how can he create it but not write it?

I don't think anyone wrote it. It scans Pokemon and says things about them.

Same way real life people assemble encyclopedias based on the works of many scientists around the world. 😐

The pokedex is basicly "word of God" canon.

Legit, I don't think anyone writes it. I think it scans them and gets the information on its own.

Wouldn't surprise me. Pokeballs change states of matter ffs.

Pokeverse is full of shizotech like that, yeah. Original G/S/C had a freakin' time machine.

R/B/Y had a machine that rewrote genetic code or DNA.

That.... doesn't make it any better. 😐

'Basically' isn't 'is'. And thats why encyclopedias are not 100% fact. They're opinions. They may be extremely reliable opinions, with lots of evidence backing them up, but still. Plus we never see a single thing to back up 99% of pokedex entries. So instead of claiming feats as though they were facts, you should mention that its just the pokedex that says so.

Just the most canon thing in pokemon says so? 😬 Yeeaah. About that.

Just the most canon thing in pokemon says so? erm Yeeaah. About that.

What does that even mean? 😬

You seem to be implying pokedex feats are somehow less valid than feats outside the pokedex, which would be false.

T-They are. 🤨 😬 😐

Which is the more reliable? Actually seeing someone push a mountain with one hand OR some random just saying it happened. The guy could be lying, but it would be very hard for your eyes to lie to you.

Strawman fallacy.

If the latter example is the pokedex, read: word of God canon, they're equally reliable.

It's pretty hard for a machine to lie.

Strawman fallacy.

No, no it isn't.

This is a strawman. What I said was not. 😐

Except it isn't word of God, its the word of a bunch of lunatics who give the equivilant of guns to 10yr olds. Read: Fallible Human Beings.

It's pretty hard for a machine to lie.

Not if its programed like that or just plain wrong.

You realize what you are saying, right? A machine designed specifically to research and catalog data on Pokemon is somehow programmed to lie about them.

Actually, most pokemon are more equivelant to WMD's, but that doesn't make the pokedex fallible.

Your assumption, that the pokedex is a bunch of lies by random guys who wish to lie to people on the otherside of the fourth wall they're unaware of... Is a bit of a stretch. It's word of God canon. Also, it's backed up at several points during the games. 😬

You know I once brought some protection software specifically designed to protect my computer and yet it tried to syphon off my funds within a day. 🙂
