What about martial arts?

I played football (soccer) when I was a kid, Robtard's correct I was a goalkeeper. I also did martial arts, Aikido when I was young and Wing Tsun when I was about 18.

I actually practiced with the footballers (American) in high school for a week or two, but they didn't have pads in my size so I dropped it pretty quick.

Hi Bardock, I used to be really fit in college, but since graduating and working crazy long stressful hours, I gained about 40lbs within the past 5 years. In January I started living my new "lifestyle", its all calorie based. I'm a fairly scientific person, so I like to solve problems as systematically and reasonably as possible, so I attacked my weight loss problem using pure math, calories in vs calories out, this pretty much explains it: http://www.acaloriecounter.com/calorie-counting.php This is the best calculator I've found, it works really great: http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm#

My first week counting calories I lost 7 lbs, but everyweek after its been about 2 lbs, which is what you want, the slower it comes off, the harder it will be to put back on. I'm at my goal weight now, 6'4" 194lbs. I didn't do any exercise, because you dont loose weight by exercising, its 95% food.

And remember, forget those crazy fad diets, they dont work. Just find something that you can do the rest of your life, I can count calories forever now, no problem! I know what my daily caloric allowance is, and I dont let myself eat more than I'm allowed.

Good luck! :-)

That's pretty much how I am trying to do it, though it is a struggle and I've only recently started again after about a month of two of pigging out. I will check out the sites you gave though. And congrats on achieving your goal.

They should have had pads your size. That's weird they didn't.

What position were you going for?

receiver

They probably could have gotten some had I stuck with it. I mean it's a game for huge guys. Though my school wasn't particularly good at Football.

Well, I had no idea about AF before really and I know little about it now, so I didn't go in with any expectations, I suppose I would have been a defensive lineman...

he be like the juggernaut/blob... he tank right through everyone although he may not reach the ball in time.

That's not true, actually. (It's closer to 95% exercise and 5% diet.)

In fact, you can have a shit diet and exercise like a madman and lose fat and gain muscle.

However, congrats on your weight loss. I still need to lose 20 lbs, myself. 🙁

could always go on the jared program

As many of you know I am very overweight. Dangerously so, in fact. I'd wager I am the biggest guy on here anyway. However that is not particularly healthy and many things that should be easy are hard for me to do or at least uncomfortable in many ways. I've been overweight for at least 13 years and have tried multiple diets and sports, but so far nothing has ever worked, mostly because I lacked motivation. Now I have high blood pressure and a thyroid issue which requires me to take medication, likely for the rest of my life. Anyway, I need to lose weight, and hope that keeping track of it publicly will motivate me enough to finally stick with it and lose the weight.

So that's what I'll do here, I'll write about what I eat, how I exercised and my current stats, and you can all cherish this experience with me!!!

I plan on updating every evening. Mostly about what I ate that day and what sport I did. And usually update my weight/BMI once a week. Perhaps after a while I will also add measurements and pictures, but not now cause a) it's embarrassing enough and b) who wants to see that anyway.

So yeah, fair warning, that's what's gonna happen here, if you don't like talking about fat people or diets or me (yeah right) you'll probably not like this thread.

Starting Weight: 198.7 kg
Starting BMI: 49.7

I could give you the perfect plan, it would work, but it's only recommended for crazy people like me. 😆

Really the best thing to do is to slowly incorporate healthy habits. Start doing one thing better and take out one thing worse. If you go too fast you'll likely overwhelm yourself and get bored. What I do would be pretty strict to the average person, but I did most of it at once and I found ways to improve over time. 🙂

How is it going now?

Well, I only started really again 3 days ago. It's going well for that, I guess.

An ugly guy being asked to the prom rather. That was more of an "are you sure" really than a "oh wow" really. 😛

Hold on I'll type it up. It's pretty intense stuff though lol.

I see that this has been down for....7 months now. I hope you're still trying to live healthier. I've recently gotten off the healthy eating lifestyle. I was doing well, and due to stress I've fallen off the wagon.

I have a history of eating disorders. Living healthy hasn't been easy for me.

So starting today I'm back on the wagon. I hope you're still on it Bardock!
