Takuan crawls his way up to it and tries to enter the ship

You slowly drag yourself in, and feel the ship list upwards as Saar takes it higher.

"CLOSE THE DOOR!" he yells back from the cockpit.

Takuan does so and joins him in the cockpit

"Back! Back!" he yells. "Rear turret!"

He runs to the rear turret and installs himself in the seat.
are we being followed? he think, trying to find what to shoot at

Galder takes some battery and energy packs used for his currently destroyed bulky rifle and lightsabers from his belt and hands them to Rah.

"See if these are enough," Galder says. "If not, we'll feed the energy from Persis' lightsaber into it. Or, just look for loose wires..."

(Lightsabres really aren't compatible)

Whatever that explosion was you heard before, it's really screwed the systems for the base...

You strap yourself into the quad turret, Takuan. The scene outside you slowly turns from orange to black as you clear out of the atmosphere.

There ios what you think is a sensor screen nearby with several flashing dots on it, and a headset where from you can vaguely hear Saar's voice calling.

Takuan puts the head set on and listens to what saar wants to say

"... hear me? I said keep them off my back until we clear the planet's gravity well!"

"i hear you" answers back takuan, looking at what to shoot at

Well, there seem to be four dot thingies flashing red on that sensor screen... you THINK it indicates they are getting closer...

"I cannot manoeuvre out of this orbital corrdior," says Saar. "Only one sector of their defence gird is down, if I stray we will be acquired!"

"i understand...i'll do my best to keep the off our back"
Takuan aims as well as he knows (wich would be not too well, i assume 🙂 ) and opens fire at the targets

The enemy fighters- narrow, black things- streak in close. Rapid laser fire starts to streak towards the ship[. You pull the trigger... and nothing happens..

"saar!" says Takuan "the turret isn't working!!"

Rah looks for a way to re-route the power. "Galder, if I cant get this working it might be an idea for you to stay here and guard the Astrolabe. You can also rest get your strength back while I go up the way we came down." "Jolanta will know how to get this thing working again."

"Possibly, but she's hijacking the ship. If ya send Chion down here, maybe he can grab the Astrolabe and me and go back up."

Chion won't fit the way you came down!

I reckon you need inspiration from ANOTHER film to get the quick way out of this one... as an old maintenance lift, this is an old fashined winch sort, rather than a hi-tech grav-lift or anything.

After a few moment's silence, Saar screamsn back

"TURN IT ON!"

Looking up lift shaft Rah considers climbing it to hotwire the motor system or to hand crank it if it has an emergency manual winding system possibly employing Chion's help...

(😖hifty: are you kiddin me?!....that 'general' knowledge is fit for at least a small child 😛)
Takuan searches for the on/off button and presses it, soon before opening fire at the attackers

You have no idea how these things work, Takuan... the sensors were on, you assumed the whole unit was powered. It takes you at least 30 seconds to work out that all the laser power is being routed to the rear shields instead. As you try and transfer power over, the first flashes erupt as the laser fire makes contact with the rear shield...

Nah, Chion'll never get down here. And manual system will take a long time to get you all the way up. Still, remember that you will never need to use this lift again...
