I was thinking it was the head of her lover/husband/protector. I suppose a baby makes sense too, though... The woman was batshit crazy, after all. /shrug

_______

Anyway, the first episode was alright. Aside from the 'zombie storm', things are starting out fairly slow/calm. A Producer interviewed on The Talking Dead said there is like a 6-7 month gap between this season and last season. In that time the group's numbers have increased substantially, they've formed a crude government, they've made several upgrades to the prison, they've began growing crops/raising livestock as a means of sustainable food, etc.

I'm curious why Patrick(the geeky kid) up and died/transformed at the end..? Everyone on earth has the zombie virus, so I'm *assuming* it was already airborne. Perhaps this virus, like most other RW viruses, has mutated/evolved into a stronger strain? Dunno. Clearly, though, whatever ailment is responsible for turning Patrick can kill farm animals as well, as I'm guessing that is what also killed the group's pig. Furthermore, bleeding from the eyes might be a 'symptom' of this new-found transformation-- Rick noticed this on a zombie outside the fence(a few times), and Patrick appeared to have the same thing going on after he turned. Patrick also coughed all over the open water source the group uses for showering, so I wonder if that'll factor in later on..?

That being said, the second episode should be quite interesting. A newly converted zombie unleashed in close quarters with a bunch of unarmed people that are sound asleep!? It'll be positively gore-tastic! 👆

Excellent point on the virus mutating.

And who would've thought that the second zombie crawling towards the trapped alcoholic in the supermarket would've made it in time to get the new kid. Nahhhh.

Great episode though. I really wanted the woman Rick found to survive, considering the amount of time the survivors have lasted her experiences must've been insane. Hence the outcome.

Creepy Clara was more scarier than anything TWD has ever shown.

Rick should've taken her by force just to assert his authority. He's getting too lax, IMO. 👇

I remember seeing on one of the science/history channels they did a "realistic What would really happen if" show about a major pandemic outbreak. On the show they stated that after so much time after "the fall of civilization" that with out access to modern meds such as disinfectants and antibiotics and such that human resistance to infections and other such maladies will fall back to pre industrial age levels. Or in other words you get a scratch on your finger and its practically a death sentence. Although I fear that that won't be the case on the show especially with the Dead Pig in the first ep.

Most definitely it will. The promos for the next episode already show zombies attacking from inside the prison walls, which means that Patrick's infection has begun to spread across the rest of the group.

It would be partially beneficial though, as the great apes are known for having strong immune systems, and under such circumstances it might be possible for humans to develop more resilient immune systems as well.

Rick at the beginning of S3 would have instantly shot her down the moment he sniffed betrayal coming.

I also hate the pussification that Carl has seemingly underwent in this season. One moment he's a stone cold killer, going from getting medical supplies in a zombie-infested prison all on his lonesome(despite what happened to Hershel who was with a group) along with gunning down a random Governor-lacky to b1tching about Carol's self-defense lessons and getting owned by a younger girl.

Anyways, the best part about this episode was the Rain of Zombies. 👆

Carl being upset that the kids were being taught to use knives didn't make any sense; unless he was upset thinking about how Rick won't let him go Rambo anymore.

I thought he was upset because he hadn't been privy to said lessons..?

Carl was brought in since Rick's humanity has returned. This is what happens to kids with a strong parental figure. It actually makes perfect sense so of course you'd have a problem with it.

Rick's humanity had returned for what, like 3 months or so? I doubt that is enough time for a kid to get over the fact that he gunned down another kid in cold blood. Or the fact that he was already beginning to despise his dad for becoming soft again, as evidenced when he asked "What's this?" in a vehement tone when Rick brought the Woodbury survivors back to the prison. Because let's face it: Carl was becoming more accustomed to the "badass adult" image that he had of himself in his mind during Rick's "dictator" phase. He had real responsibility then, being a crucial part of Rick's group and a faux child soldier(not that OI am actually defending he idea of having child soldiers here).

It's pretty clear though that you're only looking for a pissing contest here, instead of actually trying to engage in constructive discussion for a change. Considering the amount of butthurt that you carry from our past conversations, I don't really blame you but then again I don't really care either.

Not really. Rewatch the scene, where Carl sees what Carol is actually teaching them behind everyone's backs, and then Carol with him not to tell his father. It's implied that he's upset about Carol's secret slf-defense training program.

There are some other inconsistencies as well imo, like an armed, healthy and prepped Glenn getting overpowered by a zombie when a tied up, beaten up Glenn was able to take out another zombie in a matter of minutes.

So...all circumstances are the same? Zombie size, strength, leverage, etc. as well as the inherent randomness in any physical encounter? This seems like a stretch.

The point about Carl is better-made, though also not without potential explanations.

What is the relevance of strength here? It's a decaying corpse which shouldn't be able overwhelm an experienced Walker-killer like Glenn. As far as size goes, it appeared to roughly be of similar proportions. And for leverage, how much worse leverage can one get than being chained to a chair(not to mentioned weakened from multiple beatings) while a Walker descends upon you?

What other explanations could there be?

....Are you saying that to help survive the ZomApoc they should start sexing with the Gorillas?

And on a serious note. No. I don't thnk there would be any "beneficial" side at all.

I am talking about the actual pandemic sim which you mentioned in your post. Although I shouldn't have to be any more specific, considering that was the only portion of your post which I addressed. Think before you post.

Edit: And humans don't need to "start sexing" with gorillas. We ARE one of the many species of great apes after all.

Darn. I was looking forward to the ape sexing.

He is young and iirc it has been about 6 months and under the watchful eye of a father and the first showings of a return to community.

No, you having a problem with a character change despite the logical reasoning behind it is ridiculous.
