I'm very much looking forward to this game, but not the Wii control schematic.

Odd, this is the way I feel about any game I plan on getting for Wii. mmm

I saw nothing in that video that makes me believe Link is the all-powerful He-Man Scream makes him out to be. uhuh

To be fair, comparing Link to He-Man is kind of setting the bar really high.

I wouldn't know. I didn't watch any He-Man episodes except for that newer series that used to play on Toonami.

Watch the movie. I has He-Man stripped naked and whipped for Skeletors viewing pleasure. It is gloriously gay.

Meh. Not that impressed. The combat looks to slow for my liking.

Any bets on the villain(s)?

I mean there are the obvious mainstays and Ocarina more or less guaranteed Volvagia would be in this game but how ****ed up would it be if Midna or one of her identically named ancestors turned out to be the primary villain?

Volvagia? Really? I hope so.

The amount of rage I will feel if I ever see midna in another Zelda game will shake the very foundation of all realities.

I'm with you on that Moo...

Ok well we know this game is a prequel and possibly the first game in the series and that the plot involves Link living in an isolated island in the sky called Skyloft and becoming aware of a world completely covered in darkness and evil below called Hyrule that he has to liberate.
Here's what we know or can infer from games that talk about the past-
The Minish Cap: The world was about to be swallowed in darkness until the Picori came down from the sky and gave the "Hero of Men" a magic sword and a golden light. When the evil was sealed, the hero gave the golden light force to Princess Zelda to protect it. There's an ancient tribe of humans who live in the sky and worship and channel the winds.

Ocarina of Time: Hyrule's races have been periodically at war in the past and Hyrule's history is remarkably bloody. The ancient sage Rauru built the Temple of Light in the sacred realm to protect the Triforce. The Temple of Time and its elaborate key was built on the other side to do the same. At some point, a serpent called Volvagia plagued the Gorons and ate them till the Hero of the Gorons killed it with the Megaton Hammer.

Majora's Mask: An evil tribe once made a horrific mask for dark rituals.

Twilight Princess: There's a race of technologically advanced bird-people called the Oocca who live on islands and castles in the sky, are closest to the gods, used to pal around with the royal family, and created the Hylians. Once the world was young and innocent until some schmuck found the Triforce. So all the races, people, friends, and families began butchering each other over it while some dark interlopers hung back, used dark magic to create monsters and horrible weapons, the worst one being the Fused Shadow, a helmet they used to seize the Triforce and plunge the world into darkness. The gods and light spirits intervened, the interlopers were defeated, and one by one they were either banished into the Mirror of Twilight or executed at the Arbiter's Grounds by the ancient sages.

Based on that, any theories on the games villains or plot?

Money says Ganondorf is the main villain.

Has it ever not been Ganondorf?

Majora's mask I think, so, like, once?

How? This is set before Ocarina IIRC. Anyway I hope the main villian is connected to Majora's mask. Perhpas you end up sealing it's evil spirit in the mask or something awesome like that.

Edit: There are several games that do not include Ganondorf. Minsh Cap, Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks, Four Swords, Link's awakening.

Actually quite often. I won't count the Oracles games because even though Ganon was the last boss, he didn't orchestrate anything and was basically just mindless but of the 15 or so full fledged recognized Zelda games, Ganon was not the mastermind or main villain of 9 of the games.

Ever compared the eyes on Majora's Mask to those of the Fused Shadow?

Indeed I have. I consider it to be coincidence however. Afterall Bellum has a similar eye as well. Although if they were connected that would be incredibly awesome.

I would actually love to see Midna again. Twilight Princess is probably my favorite game of all time with too many great moments to name (Queen Rutella, the wild west shoot out, Ganon duel, incredible graphics and the Twilight, everything).
I'm not too thrilled about the Skyward Sword's graphics as they currently look and kind of agree with the criticism that Twilight Princess' were better. That said, I would love to see the creation of the Master Sword, but also stuff like the Picori Blade, the Magical Sword and Shield, and the Silver Arrows return. The Silver Arrows are the only thing that can kill full Triforce wielders, right? I also really hope the game actually has the Sacred Realm in it so we can see it when it's not the dark world. I'm hoping that instead of the whole sky thing that they show it kind of like the glimpse in TP where it's just pitch dark with the grass and all other objects illuminated like it's daylight. Like a Rene Maggritte painting.

I think the Silver Arrows have just generally been replaced by the Light Arrows. As well as the Magic Sword being replaced by the Master Sword. I don't mind it.

Prefer Skyward Sword's look over TP's to be honest.
