STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Respite

Xeth is going to soar ahead because he doesn't want to stay around long.

"If they get close, cut them up," Xeth says. "Otherwise, take some potshots."

He floors the accelerator and zips away from the fortress, through the scrap fields.

Xeth pulls ahead! Despite not being the best pilot, Xeth rolls four successes.

I'll give Ti a turn in hand, since Xeth didn't do as she hoped. The STAPs choose to give chase this turn instead of shoot, with varying success.

ESCAPE FROM THE FORTRESS, Start of Turn 2

STAP A: 1(2A)/2 [DS]

STAP B: 1(2A)/1

STAP C: 1(2A)/3

STAP D: 1(2A)/1

Xeth (P7): 2(3A)/34/6 [DD JM] (STAP: 0)

Ti (G10): 1(2A)/32 (one turn behind)

Ok, looks like I'm shooting. I get out my blaster if needed.

I'll keep Dodge & Weave at the ready, in case I want to tap it for defense.

Xeth is going to try staying ahead of the STAPs. If he can weave in and out of their fire- which I'm expecting soon- he will.

Yes, Vera-Kin will make that a Persuasion attempt. Cutting off the pump station that Wazo mentioned will force Tarne out of his lair, or at least his forces. They'll be harder to engage if they're hunkered down in the fortress.

In that case, Ti took a shot at one of the STAPs in tow. On 9 dice, Ti rolls five successes. It is a fifty-fifty chance of hitting the driver or the STAP itself, and Ti finds her mark on the STAP closest to Xeth. She deals 5 damage to the STAP, taking a chunk out of its light armor plating.

Xeth doesn't roll great as he tries to keep ahead of the STAPs. He only rolls one success! Two of the STAPs open fire on him, since they're in range, while the other two try to catch up.

The first, STAP C, blasts cautiously at him with one success. Not a tremendous amount of damage, but he manages to clip Ti instead of his intended target. It's only 2 damage with the STAP's armor.

The second, STAP A, appears to be the leader and has modified his vehicle's guns to increase their firepower. He rolls two successes for 3 damage and hits the STAP.

Ti takes another shot. I'll rule she shoots at the closest STAP again. This time it's STAP D, and she deals it 3 damage. It may not seem like much but these things are pretty flimsy.

ESCAPE FROM THE FORTRESS, Start of Turn 3

STAP A: 1(2A)/0/0/2 [DS]

STAP B: 1(2A)/0/0/4

STAP C: 1(2A)/0/5/3

STAP D: 1(2A)/0/3/5

Xeth (P7): 2(3A)/34/3/7 [DD JM]

Ti (G10): 1(2A)/32 (one turn behind)

Again, numbers are- Defense(Armor)/Rider Damage/STAP Damage/Score in Chase

I'll draw my lightsaber when they're in range, but continue shooting for now. Dodge & Weave is still up.

Not a problem for Xeth to keep going, so far. He presses on and lets Ti do the talking.

You're not rolling very well, Xeth. Only one success shows again.

Most STAPs choose to move ahead this time, except STAP C. It takes a shot at the escaping Jedi and rolls two successes. Ti finds herself ducking to avoid taking a laser to the back of the head, then turns and fires on the closest STAP as she has been doing.

The closest is STAP D, which has sped up and nearly runs into Xeth! She blasts into the front of it for 4 damage.

ESCAPE FROM THE FORTRESS, Start of Turn 4

STAP A: 1(2A)/0/0/5 [DS]

STAP B: 1(2A)/0/0/6

STAP C: 1(2A)/0/5/3

STAP D: 1(2A)/0/7/8

Xeth (P7): 2(3A)/34/3/8 [DD JM]

Ti (G10): 1(2A)/32

Again, numbers are- Defense(Armor)/Rider Damage/STAP Damage/Score in Chase

I whip my lightsaber out; time to wreck STAP D.

It will take a turn to put the pistol away.

Okay, Vera, I've made the roll. It seems Wazo Kell will need a little more convincing than simply suggesting that you can tackle one thing while he takes on the other. He wants to know why he should think you can handle that yourself.

"I may be small but I am strong," Vera-Kin insists. "I admit I could not overtake the outpost or the station single-handedly, but with my associates I believe it is possible to do. There is more to a battle than directly engaging the enemy, anyway. I will try to find ways of disabling either location without having to directly engage the occupants."

That's ok I suppose.

Wazo Kell is still hesitant.

"Scout out the area," Wazo Kell says. "I will let you pick the location which you dominate. But believe this... if you destroy the pump station in any way, you will not find a friend in me. I want it intact."

-

Okay, waiting on Xeth!

"I believe we have reached an agreement, then," Vera-Kin says. "We will make our way out to the military outpost, then. I don't want to risk damaging the pump station and losing your possible help."

Wazo Kell is pleased with your answer; he really is concerned about that pump station.

"Do you need transportation?" he asks.

Instead of zipping ahead, Xeth will try to ram STAP D to throw him off and get Ti closer.

Xeth shunts into STAP D! It does minimal damage to the STAP.

Ti draws her lightsaber with a sharp snap-hiss and makes ready to chop up anyone that comes near enough.

STAP A and C give chase while STAP B tries to fire. STAP A totally fails his roll, possibly dinging off of some scrap outside the fortress. STAP C but STAP C catches up tremendously!

STAP B's shot comes toward Ti but she fends it off with a snap of her blade.

STAP D keeps pace and shunts Xeth back. He actually hits quite hard and Xeth is forced to make a Pilot check to keep control of his vehicle. He just barely passes.

I chop some STAPs

After Ti flays the nearby STAP, Xeth will speed off again, trying to keep ahead of the others.
