Honestly though… how can people take that line from Obi as literal truth? First, he's not omniscient and therefore is only speculating. Speculating about something where he doesn't have all the facts. He believes that Sids has killed 4 Jedi masters when they went to arrest him, but doesn't realize that Mace had Sids beat ALONE. If he had that information… that might have changed his opinion. Second, Obi hasn't had the best track record against Dooku on two separate occasions… Thus, his confidence in facing an even greater foe, who he believes already beat people better than him.. certainly factored into this line. Third, we later saw that Yoda by himself was more than a match for Sid, and in fact, had him pretty much running away the entire time. If Sids truly outclassed the deadliest foe the darkside ever had, they he would've stayed to finish the job. Instead he ran away from Yoda. So.. really that line from Obi imo was nothing more than his confidence being shaken and not a fact as proven later when yoda confronted him alone.
